Storm No. 5 made landfall with very strong winds, raging fiercely for more than 10 hours, leaving serious consequences in many areas of Ha Tinh province. According to records, many houses had their roofs blown off and collapsed; trees fell, and the electrical system was seriously damaged. In particular, many schools were preparing to enter the new school year, but now the storm has destroyed many items, affecting the school year's plan. Recorded at Hoa Lien Secondary School (Co Dam commune) after the storm passed was a chaotic scene of fallen corrugated iron roofs and fallen trees. Ms. Hoang Thi Huong - Vice Principal of Hoa Lien Secondary School said that before the storm, the school had prepared well for prevention and control work, but the storm was so strong that the roof of the two-story classroom was blown off.
"The new roof that the school built last year with a budget of 400 million VND is now completely damaged. Teachers at the school are working hard with local authorities to overcome the consequences and stabilize the situation soon, especially when the new school year is about to start," said Ms. Huong. The storm also caused heavy damage to Son Loc Secondary School (Xuan Loc commune).

Mr. Hoang The Anh - Principal of Son Loc Secondary School said that the new school year is approaching but the school collapsed, so the school is currently struggling to cope.
"There is still more than a week until the new school year begins, but the storm has caused the classroom roof to collapse, so the school currently has no plan to ensure facilities for the new school year. For now, we are focusing on cleaning and fixing what is available. As for the classrooms, they certainly will not be able to meet the needs of the new school year, the school may have to divide into two shifts," Mr. Anh said sadly.
According to the report of the Department of Education and Training of Ha Tinh province, storm No. 5 damaged 156 educational establishments in the area, with an estimated loss of more than 121 billion VND. After the storm, the Department of Education and Training established 4 working groups to visit schools to assess the damage and direct the recovery.
