Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the exhibition "National Treasures - Heritage masterpieces in Ho Chi Minh City" is the first time that National Treasures being kept in the public museum system and private collections in the city are displayed together.
The exhibition aims to give the public a comprehensive view of the depth of Vietnamese history, culture and art through the ages.
The event is part of a series of activities celebrating the 327th anniversary of the formation and development of Saigon - Cho Lon - Gia Dinh - Ho Chi Minh City (1698-2025), and the 49th anniversary of the City being honored to be named after President Ho Chi Minh (1976-2025).
“We hope that today's thematic exhibition will bring deep values and emotions to the viewing public,” said Mr. Nhut.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City, the 17 national treasures on display this time represent the entire history of national construction and development.
From the ceramic pots of the Dong Son culture to the artifacts symbolizing the Oc Eo culture from the 2nd-8th centuries, the Champa culture from the 8th-10th centuries, and the antiques from the Nguyen period and the valuable works of art of the modern era.
Hopefully, it will serve the public well, thereby contributing to the preservation and promotion of the cultural and historical values of National Treasures, so that the people of the city can be proud and join hands to protect the National Treasures that they own.
Along with that, we are collecting and preserving better the National Treasures in our area in the new space of Ho Chi Minh City.
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee announced the Prime Minister 's decision to recognize the National Treasure: "Ceramic Pot" of private collector Pham Gia Chi Bao (actor Chi Bao).
At the same time, the decision to rank Ton Duc Thang Museum as Grade I was announced. Thus, to date, all public museums under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City have been ranked as Grade I.
