To effectively implement sustainable poverty reduction, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee have directed all levels, sectors and localities to focus on leadership, direction, dissemination, development of programs and plans and propose many solutions for annual implementation. Notably, in the period of 2021 - 2025, the former Khanh Hoa province has allocated more than 690 billion VND to implement 7 projects; capital sources focus on supporting investment in 14 socio-economic infrastructure development projects in the two former districts of Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh and 19 projects for extremely disadvantaged communes in the coastal and island areas of the former Van Thanh commune. In the former Ninh Thuan province, in 2024 alone, more than 170 billion VND was allocated to implement 7 projects. Along with that, propaganda work to raise awareness of responsibility among cadres and people has been strengthened; Policies to support production development, vocational training, job creation, preferential loans... have had a strong impact on socio-economic development and poverty reduction. Thereby changing perceptions, helping the poor have jobs, stable income, improving their lives, contributing to reducing the number of poor households in the province.

With the participation of the entire political system and the efforts of the people, poverty reduction work in the province has achieved many outstanding results. In early 2021, the whole old Khanh Hoa province had 12,874 poor households, accounting for 3.86%; by the end of 2024, the number of poor households decreased to 4,348 households, accounting for 1.26%. At the end of 2021, the whole old Ninh Thuan province had 14,255 poor households, accounting for 7.84%; by the end of 2024, the number of poor households decreased to 4,971 households, accounting for 2.6%. Notably, in early 2025, the Prime Minister recognized the two old districts of Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh as having escaped the list of poor districts. In addition, implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, the whole province has completed supporting the construction and repair of 3,509 houses for poor, near-poor households, households in difficult circumstances, and people with revolutionary contributions with a total cost of more than 195 billion VND.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, to achieve the above results, in addition to effectively implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction, the province has issued many policies on poverty reduction and social security such as: Health insurance policy, housing policy for poor households, near-poor households, policy on social assistance standards, policy on voluntary social insurance... In the process of implementing poverty reduction work, Party committees and authorities at all levels have integrated with the annual socio -economic development plan and the 2021-2025 period, the National Target Program on New Rural Development and the National Target Program on Socio-economic Development in Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas. In addition to the central and provincial budget support, communes and wards have also mobilized other resources for poverty reduction work through support for housing construction, production models... bringing practical results.

Always effectively implement poverty reduction policies

After merging Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan provinces into the new Khanh Hoa province, the whole province still has 9,319 poor households, accounting for 1.74%. Determining 2025 as the final year to achieve the plan target for the entire 5-year period of 2021 - 2025, the Provincial People's Committee has issued a socio-economic development plan for 2025, which sets out specific targets for sustainable poverty reduction. Accordingly, the province sets a target of reducing 4,236 poor households by the end of 2025, with a reduction of 0.8%, bringing the number of poor households in the whole province by the end of 2025 to 5,083 households, accounting for 0.94%. At the same time, in the 2025 - 2030 term, the province sets a target of reducing the annual poverty rate by 0.5 - 1% according to the multidimensional poverty standard for the period of 2026 - 2030.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan said that in order to achieve the above goals, in the coming years, all levels, sectors and localities will focus on synchronously implementing sustainable poverty reduction policies. In particular, promoting propaganda work, raising awareness and responsibility of Party committees, authorities and people on poverty reduction work. Effectively implementing 7 projects of the program; mobilizing other resources in society to improve the effectiveness of implementing projects and component sub-projects; mobilize people to proactively contribute funds to build and repair houses and participate in implementing livelihood models.

In addition, continue to effectively implement vocational training and create jobs for workers in poor, near-poor and newly escaped poverty households. Focus on supporting the improvement of agricultural, forestry, fishery and salt production capacity to innovate production methods and techniques, ensure food security, meet nutritional needs and increase income for people, especially poor and near-poor households. Integrate the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction with other programs, projects and plans to limit poverty relapse and poverty generation. Along with that, effectively implement the emulation movement "For the poor - no one is left behind" to arouse the will to be self-reliant, self-reliant, promote internal strength to escape poverty, build a prosperous life for people and the community...
