The 2025 Porto Billiards World Cup will take place from June 29 to July 5 in Portugal. It is known that the distribution of players appearing in the qualifying round or the main round will be based on the rankings of the World Carom Billiards Federation (UMB) updated in March 2025. According to the above rankings, Tran Quyet Chien is ranked 4th, so he is given a special place to appear from the main round (round of 32). According to the competition schedule recently announced by the organizing committee, Vietnam's number 1 player will compete from the afternoon of July 3 (Vietnam time).

The top 14 players on the rankings were given special entry into the main round. Therefore, Tran Thanh Luc (ranked 5th) and Bao Phuong Vinh (ranked 14th) also entered the tournament at the same time as Tran Quyet Chien. Meanwhile, Chiem Hong Thai (ranked 15th) continued to receive a "survival ticket", being given special entry into the round of 32, because Kim Jun-tae (ranked 6th) had switched to compete in the Korean professional billiards tournament (PBA).

At the most recent World Cup billiards stage (in Ankara - Türkiye), Tran Quyet Chien also defeated Sidhom in the semi-finals.

The achievement in Porto in 2023 is the second title in Quyet Chien's collection of 4 World Cup billiards championships up to now.

Up to now, after 3 World Cup matches in 2025, Tran Quyet Chien has not been able to win the championship. Therefore, when returning to Porto - where Quyet Chien was once crowned, Vietnamese 3-cushion carom billiards fans are hoping that the native Ha Tinh will regain glory.

The 2025 Porto Billiards World Cup has 10 Vietnamese players competing. Besides the 4 stars mentioned above, the remaining 6 Vietnamese players have to compete in the qualifying rounds.

Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu will compete in the 4th qualifying round, on July 2 (Vietnam time). Dao Van Ly will compete in the 3rd qualifying round, on the afternoon of July 1 (Vietnam time). Nguyen Chi Long, Nguyen Hoan Tat, and Thon Viet Hoang Minh will compete in the 2nd qualifying round, on the afternoon of June 30. Nguyen Dinh Luan will appear in the first qualifying round, on the opening day of the tournament, June 29.
