In July 2014, young officer Cao Hoang Tuan took up his duties at Radar Station 20, in a difficult situation for the unit. He has been with the unit since then, gradually growing through the positions of Station Chief, Deputy Station Chief, and Station Chief.

Correctly assessing the advantages and difficulties of the unit, in his position as Station Chief, he actively and closely followed the unit, promptly advised and proposed to the Party Committee and Party Cell many policies and leadership measures to create changes in all aspects of the unit's situation. Regarding training, in addition to promoting the self-study role of the members, he always set high requirements for the troops to strive. From planning, training schedule, to lesson plans, lectures, training organization procedures... at Radar Station 20, he paid attention to directing, implementing seriously and effectively. Regularly checking and evaluating the training of combat crews to have guidance measures; attaching importance to drawing experience after each content, day, week, month, thereby correcting limitations and shortcomings, promptly resolving difficulties and problems that arise.

To strictly maintain the on-duty regimes, ensure the smooth and stable communication system in all situations, he regularly requires officers and soldiers, especially the on-duty shifts, to always raise awareness, responsibility, meticulousness, and caution in each shift, not to let any mistakes, delays, or false reports happen, even the smallest ones. At the same time, he directs comrades on combat duty to strictly maintain the order and on-duty regime, from the combat duty shift at the Station Command Headquarters to the stations; arrange the composition of the on-duty shifts and time scientifically ; regularly check and correct the order, regime, and style in performing the tasks of the components.

In building a comprehensively strong Station that is "exemplary and typical", Major Cao Hoang Tuan, together with the unit's leaders and commanders, has implemented many measures to build the unit into a unified bloc in terms of will and action; taking care of building a clean and strong Party cell and a comprehensively strong unit. Identifying personnel work as the key step, deciding the quality of the Station's task completion, Major Cao Hoang Tuan always attaches importance to training and educating cadres; at the same time, paying attention to, taking care of, and building a team of subordinate cadres with qualities and abilities, especially working methods and styles that meet the requirements and tasks.

Along with that, Major Cao Hoang Tuan and the unit's Party Committee and commanders truly set an example from words to actions, with scientific working methods and styles, specific, meticulous, dedicated, passionate, enthusiastic, responsible for their work, and are the center of solidarity in the unit.

Major Cao Hoang Tuan shared: “Continuously caring for and building solidarity and cohesion among officers and soldiers; promoting democracy, upholding the spirit of self-criticism and criticism, regularly paying attention to and listening to the thoughts, feelings and aspirations of soldiers to accurately forecast and promptly handle arising problems, is the key to the Station's ability to maintain stability in all aspects over the years, successfully completing all assigned tasks.”

In 2024, Radar Station 20 was awarded the title of Determined to Win Unit; for many consecutive years it has been an excellent training unit; for two consecutive years 2023 and 2024, Major Cao Hoang Tuan was awarded the title of "Grassroots-level Emulation Fighter", becoming a typical example for officers and soldiers of the entire Radar Station 20 to learn from.
