HCMC: Urgently develop a plan to respond to natural disasters

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requests departments, branches and localities to seriously and urgently implement assigned tasks, ensure proactive and effective disaster prevention and response, and protect people's lives and property.

The Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just announced the direction of Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Minh Thanh on disaster response work in the city during the period when post-merger plans have not been issued.

Accordingly, units and localities continue to use disaster response plans within their areas that have been issued by the People's Committees of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong Province and Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province (before the merger), including plans to ensure safety for people and ships, respond to earthquakes and tsunamis, prevent storms, floods and respond to disasters according to risk levels.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to urgently coordinate with departments, branches, People's Committees of wards, communes, and special zones to advise the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to issue plans to prevent storms, floods, and respond to natural disasters according to risk levels in September 2025; the earthquake and tsunami response plan must be completed and submitted in October 2026.

The Ho Chi Minh City Command is assigned to preside over and coordinate the development of a plan to ensure safety for people and ships operating on rivers, seas, and port waters, and coordinate search and rescue; submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in September 2025.

The Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested departments, branches and localities to seriously and urgently implement assigned tasks, ensure proactive and effective disaster prevention and response, and protect people's lives and property.
