Colonel Tran Van Quyet, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Ho Chi Minh City Command, reported that from 11:15 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. on July 20, heavy rain and thunderstorms occurred in Ho Chi Minh City, causing the roofs of 49 houses to be blown off, 1 house to collapse, 73 trees to fall, and 2 cars and 1 motorbike to be damaged. The Ho Chi Minh City Command mobilized 1,155 officers, soldiers and people to participate in overcoming the consequences of the thunderstorms.

According to Colonel Tran Van Quyet, the unit is actively working with the people to review the infrastructure system, embankments, key dyke areas as well as the cases of single-parent families in the area... to have a plan to reinforce, provide initial support, and minimize damage when storms and storm No. 3 make landfall. The Ho Chi Minh City Armed Forces always promote a sense of responsibility and are ready to participate, dispatch forces and vehicles according to the direction of the city's leaders.
At the meeting, agencies and units demonstrated a high sense of responsibility in disaster prevention and overcoming consequences caused by storms.
Concluding the working session, comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, suggested that agencies and sectors must proactively propose prevention plans according to each level: level 1 - serious, level 2 - very serious and level 3 - extremely serious.

Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc emphasized that the first thing to do is to overcome the consequences of storms and tornadoes that damaged houses, provide timely support to each target group, and pay attention to disadvantaged and single-parent households. Next, the Ho Chi Minh City armed forces will take the lead, coordinate, and cooperate in deploying the 3rd force on the spot.
Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc also requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City to quickly coordinate with the Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to advise competent authorities to issue new regulations, so that the support policy can operate smoothly and synchronously, without affecting the people.
Applying the experience of preventing storm No. 3 Yagi in 2024, comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc requested all levels and sectors to deploy plans so that when an incident occurs, they must respond as quickly as possible, forecast promptly, and urgently and synchronously implement their functions and tasks. In particular, ensuring the support mechanism of the government is essential, ensuring the participation role of the armed forces as the core. The local Party Committee and government mobilize 3 on-site and regularly, the Fatherland Front and people's organizations are companions to participate and mobilize the society to support wholeheartedly.
At the same time, comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc suggested that it is necessary to ensure information and early warning for people to proactively prevent natural disasters, paying special attention to post-storm circulation; develop plans to support shelters, food, clean water, essential medicines, as well as rescue equipment in case of natural disasters. All must be ensured to be sufficient for rescue forces to perform their tasks effectively, ensuring nutrition and health for participating forces.
