In Hue City, there are about 935 drug addicts and illegal drug users, of which more than 300 are addicts, the rest are users. The drug crime situation continues to be complicated: in the first 6 months of 2025 alone, the authorities discovered 120 cases with 254 subjects, an increase of 18 cases and 42 subjects compared to the same period last year.
Worryingly, there is still a subjective mentality among a segment of young people who believe that synthetic drugs are just stimulants that cause immediate excitement, are not addictive, and do not affect health. This distorted perception leads to illegal behavior and unpredictable consequences for individuals, families, and society.

At the rally in response to the International Day and National Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in 2025, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, Head of the City Steering Committee 138 Nguyen Thanh Binh requested that Party committees and authorities at all levels, especially leaders, need to fully understand their roles and responsibilities and direct the drastic implementation of drug prevention and control measures.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh proposed to thoroughly educate 100% of cadres and party members in the unit to deeply understand the goal of "saying no to drugs", at the same time strengthen propaganda work and build "drug-free" areas.
Emphasizing the task of “demand reduction” in drug prevention and control, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh called for the synchronous and effective participation of the Public Security, Health , Home Affairs, Natural Resources & Environment, Culture - Sports and localities. In particular, it is necessary to organize a peak period of screening and managing drug addicts, illegal drug users, psychotic subjects, “stoned” subjects, and at the same time, link this work with ensuring social security and creating jobs to limit the risks of arising.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee also called on all people to actively participate in the fight against and denounce crimes, contributing to building Hue City into a safe, friendly and livable centrally-run city.
