While users are eagerly awaiting the appearance of the model dubbed "Toyota Land Cruiser miniature", a new rumor from Japan suggests that the company may be preparing something unexpected but also very noteworthy. Accordingly, instead of a new SUV or pickup truck, this time, Toyota is "conceiving" an MPV with a high-chassis style.

The vehicle mentioned above could be the production version of the Toyota X-Van Gear Concept that was first introduced in 2023. The last time this concept appeared in the media was in March 2024 when a series of patent drawings were circulated online.

Toyota has yet to confirm the X-Van Gear Concept's production plans. However, Japanese magazine Motor Fan has revived the rumor, citing unnamed inside sources. According to the article, Toyota's new MPV could debut between October 2025 and spring 2026.

If it does go into production, the Toyota X-Van Gear Concept would be a more rugged alternative to its Noah and Voxy siblings, which share the same chassis platform. The concept features a more squared-off design, sturdy plastic body panels, and an outdoor-oriented style.
4.jpg
The dimensions of the production version of the Toyota X-Van Gear Concept will likely be similar to its two "brothers" Noah and Voxy. Therefore, the car will be about 4,700 mm long and have a wheelbase of 2,850 mm.

Rumors suggest the new MPV will retain many of the design cues from the Toyota X-Van Gear Concept, including sliding doors on both sides. It may also ditch the B-pillars, making entry and exit easier and providing more interior space, which could be useful for family outings or road trips.
7.jpg
Inside, the car is likely to retain its three-row configuration, but offer a variety of cabin layouts, depending on its intended use. For example, the interior could be transformed into a sleeping area or a dining area. The concept’s modern dashboard could be simplified to fit a commercial vehicle, replaced with digital displays and clever storage solutions.

The production version of the Toyota X-Van Gear Concept is expected to use the stretched TNGA-C chassis. The car is expected to have two engine options, including a 2.0L 4-cylinder gasoline engine and a 1.8L hybrid powertrain, both with 4WD.
8.jpg
Based on the leaked timeline, Toyota's new MPV could debut at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 in October this year or at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026 in January next year. Sources in Japan say the car will have a starting price slightly higher than the Toyota Noah, around 3.5 million yen (equivalent to 630 million VND).
10.jpg
Of course, all of this is still just unconfirmed rumor. Japanese auto media is known for its wild speculation. Creative Trend also contacted a Toyota dealer and was told there was no information about a new MPV model being launched this year.

If Toyota's SUV-hybrid MPV model actually goes into production, it will be a direct competitor to the Mitsubishi Delica D:5, which is quite popular in the Japanese market.
