Tottenham plan to surprise with Mainoo

Tottenham are paying special attention to Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, as contract negotiations between the youngster and the Red Devils remain deadlocked.

According to TBR , negotiations over a new contract between MU and Mainoo have lasted for more than 12 months without any agreement being reached. Seeing an opportunity, Tottenham are preparing to make an offer for the 20-year-old midfielder.

At the end of last season, United were ready to sell Mainoo for £55 million. Although the midfielder is said to want to continue playing for United, the lack of a contract extension has left his future uncertain. Mainoo had a disappointing 2024/25 season due to injuries and only made 24 appearances.

With the 2026 World Cup looming, Mainoo wants more regular playing time, something coach Ruben Amorim cannot guarantee. The Portuguese coach already has the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte in midfield, and is looking for a new option.
