On January 6, 1946, responding to President Ho Chi Minh 's call, all Vietnamese citizens aged 18 and over across the country, regardless of gender, rich or poor, ethnicity, religion... enthusiastically participated in the first General Election to elect the Vietnamese National Assembly.
The victory of the General Election was a brilliant milestone, opening a new period of development for the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam).
During 80 years of construction and development, the Vietnamese National Assembly has always been closely associated with the People, accompanying the Nation in carrying out revolutionary tasks. Over the periods, the National Assembly has constantly innovated its organization and methods of operation, promoting its role as a constitutional and legislative body, deciding on important issues of the country and exercising supreme supervision over the activities of the State.
In particular, with their strong political will, professional capacity and high sense of responsibility, National Assembly deputies have made an important contribution to affirming the position and role of the National Assembly as the highest state power agency and the highest representative body of the People.
Photo exhibition "Vietnam National Assembly - 80 years of inheritance and development" organized by the National Assembly Office on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025); Towards the 80th anniversary of the first general election to elect the Vietnam National Assembly (January 6, 1946 - January 6, 2026), General Secretary To Lam met with generations of Vietnam National Assembly deputies.
The exhibition introduces the formation and development process of the Vietnamese National Assembly through revolutionary periods; contributes to widely propagating to voters and people about the position, role and mission of the National Assembly in the cause of building a prosperous, civilized and happy Vietnam; at the same time, honors the contributions of generations of National Assembly deputies in the cause of serving the Fatherland and the People.
The exhibition displays about 300 typical images and documents, including 3 parts: Part I - From the first General Election to today's National Assembly. Part II - Imprints of the activities of the Vietnamese National Assembly. Part III - Some images of the activities of the National Assembly Delegation.
