At the invitation of General Secretary To Lam and his wife, First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and his wife are paying a state visit to Vietnam to attend the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.

This morning at the Presidential Palace, General Secretary To Lam and Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly, the General Secretary's wife, presided over the welcoming ceremony for First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and Mrs. Lis Cuesta Peraza, the First Secretary and President of Cuba.

Attending the welcoming ceremony were: Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien; Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang; General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense; General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security ; Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung; Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan; Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai; Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Pham Gia Tuc; Deputy Secretary of the National Assembly Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Parliamentarians' Group Vu Hai Ha; Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh.

The reception motorcade, escorted by a guide car and security car, brought the First Secretary, President of Cuba and his wife into the Presidential Palace.

The motorcade stopped on the red carpet, with the welcoming music playing, General Secretary To Lam and his wife shook hands, welcoming the Cuban leader and his wife to Vietnam. The students also sent the First Secretary, President of Cuba and his wife fresh bouquets of flowers.

The military band played the national anthems of both countries. The two leaders then inspected the Guard of Honor of the Vietnam People's Army. After inspecting the Guard of Honor, the two leaders went to greet the members of the high-ranking delegations of both countries attending the welcoming ceremony.

General Secretary To Lam and the First Secretary and President of Cuba returned to the podium to witness the welcoming parade of the Vietnam People's Army Honor Guard.

After the welcoming ceremony, the two leaders left the Presidential Palace for the Party Central Committee Headquarters for talks.

Before the welcoming ceremony, First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel and his wife, along with the high-ranking Cuban delegation, laid wreaths at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs; laid wreaths and visited President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum.

On the afternoon of August 31, the First Secretary and President of Cuba and his wife visited the Vietnam Military History Museum and laid flowers at the statue of Cuban military experts; offered flowers at the statue of National Hero Jose Marti (Tao Dan Flower Garden, Hanoi); and visited the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group (Viettel).
