First images of newly completed statues of Soviet and Cuban military experts

Reporting the results at the ceremony, Major General Nguyen Xuan Thuy, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department, General Department of Politics , Vietnam People's Army, said that after 45 days of urgent and simultaneous implementation, all infrastructure items, landscape, statue pedestals and 2 statue clusters of the Soviet Union and Cuba have been completed.

The statue clusters of China, Laos and Cambodia are being deployed, striving to complete all before December 22, 2025.

The project is built on an area of ^3,600m2 , with a scale of 5 clusters of symbols of the countries: Soviet Union, China, Cuba, Laos and Cambodia. Each cluster of statues includes a group of full-body statues of 3 to 5 characters; about 3m high (including the square pedestal of 4m x 4m, nearly 1m high), red copper material.

Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense, said that this is a project with profound historical, cultural and political values, a vivid symbol of the spirit of pure international solidarity, loyalty and affection; at the same time, it is a testament to the great sacrifices and contributions of international friends to the cause of national liberation, national reunification and protection of the Vietnamese Fatherland.

"We would like to send a message to international friends that Vietnam always appreciates and is grateful for the great support of international friends not only in the past, but also in the present and future; always attaches importance to preserving, consolidating and developing friendly relations with fraternal countries and international friends for a world of peace, cooperation and sustainable development," General Chien emphasized.

Mr. Gennadi Bezdtko, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam, shared: The Soviet Union was one of the first countries to officially recognize the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and provided great assistance to the Vietnamese people in their fight against foreign invasions.

"We are proud to have contributed to the victory with the Vietnamese people," said Mr. Gennadi Bezdtko, thanking Vietnam for preserving the memory of those heroic pages of history. That is a vivid proof of the sincere friendship and high trust between Russia - the successor country of the Soviet Union - and Vietnam. At the same time, continuing the fine tradition of selfless help and mutual support in difficult times, educating the younger generation to appreciate the contributions of their ancestors.

Mr. Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Vietnam, assessed that the inauguration of the statue today is a tribute to the Cuban soldiers who fought side by side with the Vietnamese army and people in the heroic resistance war.

This is also a tribute to leader Fidel Castro Ruz, who left behind an immortal saying that forever binds the deep brotherhood between the two nations: "For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its own blood."
