Arsenal rejected Mosquera deal
Arsenal's £25 million (≈$31.75 million) bid for defender Cristhian Mosquera has been rejected by Valencia, according to Sky Sports. The La Liga side want nearly double that. In addition to Arsenal, RB Leipzig are also interested in the Spain U21 international.
Cristhian Mosquera is 21 years old, plays as a central defender, and is 1m88 tall. This player impressed in La Liga last season with 37 starting matches, standing out for his ability to compete, read situations, and launch the ball from the defense.
Liverpool welcomes new recruits
Anfield's home page confirmed that the deal to recruit goalkeeper Freddie Woodman from Preston North End has been completed. In the context that both young goalkeepers Vitezslav Jaros and Harvey Davies have left on loan, The Kop added Woodman as the third option in goal, after Alisson Becker and Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Details of the deal were not disclosed. The 28-year-old goalkeeper, who previously played for Newcastle, joined on a free transfer. Woodman's arrival also gives Liverpool a homegrown player (according to Premier League regulations, a player who has played for a club in the English or Welsh football system for at least 3 seasons or 36 months before turning 21, regardless of nationality ).
Timo Werner is about to go to MLS?
According to The Athletic, Timo Werner is likely to join the New York Red Bulls. The former Chelsea striker is no longer in RB Leipzig's plans, and the Bundesliga representative is negotiating to bring him to a team "in the same Red Bull ecosystem". During his 18 months on loan at Tottenham, Werner did not leave much of an impression.
Man United "turned around" over Mbeumo
British media reported that Bryan Mbeumo's deal to join Man United has suddenly changed direction. Contrary to previous information that the player was only waiting for a medical examination, the Red Devils have not yet agreed on a transfer fee with Brentford.
A second bid of £62.5 million (≈$79.4 million) – comprising a £55 million fixed fee and £7.5 million in add-ons – was rejected by Brentford, who demanded a minimum of £65 million (≈$82.5 million) in a one-off payment.
According to a recent share, Mbeumo confirmed that he will only join Man United, instead of staying or joining Tottenham. If the deal is completed, he is said to receive a salary ranging from 150,000-175,000 pounds/week (≈ 190,500-222,000 USD) at Old Trafford.
Last season, Bryan Mbeumo scored 20 goals for Brentford – all in the Premier League. Among players in the league, only Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Alexander Isak (Newcastle) and Erling Haaland (Manchester City) scored more.
It is the first time the 25-year-old has scored 10 or more goals in a single season at top-flight level, having previously scored 11 goals for Troyes in Ligue 2 in 2018–19 and 16 for Brentford in 2019–20, when the club were in the Championship.
Brighton refuse to let Pedro leave for £50m
Newcastle have made a £50 million (≈$63.5 million) bid for striker Joao Pedro, but Brighton have rejected it. After an outstanding season, the 23-year-old striker is a target for many big clubs, including Chelsea.
Heaton stays at Man United until 2026
Veteran goalkeeper Tom Heaton has signed a one-year contract extension with Man United. Since returning to Old Trafford in 2021, he has only made three appearances and has mainly played as a third-choice reserve.
Chelsea determined to compete for Jamie Gittens for 65 million euros
According to German media, Chelsea is getting closer to recruiting Jamie Gittens by raising the asking price to 65 million euros (≈ 69.6 million USD). The young English star is said to have reached a personal agreement on a 7-year contract.
However, this is still a potentially risky deal. Gittens is only 20 years old and Chelsea have had limited success with Bundesliga signings, notably Jadon Sancho and Timo Werner.
