
According to Mr. Lo A Seng, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoang Lien Commune, on the afternoon of June 29, the local authorities received a report from the family of two children, Ly A P. (born in 2014) and Ly A S. (born in 2017), Mong ethnic group, residing in Lao Hang Chai village, who had gone out for many hours and had not returned home. Suspecting that the children went to the stream to catch fish and were swept away by the flood, the local authorities mobilized hundreds of people to search for them.
In the morning (July 2), when teachers and security guards of Lao Chai Primary School came to open the warehouse to get food to cook for the commune's search force, they heard the children's cries for help on the ceiling of the 3rd floor, classroom area, so they went to check and bring the children home.
According to the story of Ly A P. and Ly A S., on the afternoon of June 29, they went to Lao Chai Primary School to play, then climbed up to the ceiling of the 3rd floor and got stuck, unable to get down. The children were safe after more than 3 days without food thanks to the water tank in the area where they were trapped.

Immediately after finding the two lost children, medical staff came to check their health and support the family with initial care to stabilize their psychology. Currently, the health of the two children is basically stable.
