On June 27, Nhan Dan Newspaper in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists launched the Press Photo Contest "Vietnam on the Journey of Innovation" to seek works marking the country's Innovation journey, preparing for an exhibition and documentary photo book towards the 75th anniversary of the first issue of Nhan Dan Newspaper (March 11, 1951 - March 11, 2026).
The contest aims to inspire creativity while recording and spreading authentic images of the country's innovation process in all areas of social life: People, community, living space and national cultural identity, through the author's creative and humane perspective.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association said that the photo contest "Vietnam on the journey of innovation" aims to propagate and promote the image of the country and Vietnamese people in the new era, recognizing the achievements in politics, economy, society, culture as well as the position of Vietnam in the process of international integration during the 40 years of innovation.
“We hope that the contest will create a playground for artists, reporters, and photography lovers to demonstrate their abilities. Nhan Dan Newspaper will be a bridge to convey the authors’ excellent works to readers. Through the authors’ lenses, the image of the country and people of Vietnam will appear realistic and vivid,” said Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh.
In addition to exhibitions and book printing, the works are also posted on publications and platforms of Nhan Dan Newspaper for a wide range of readers to know. In addition, other newspapers can re-post and cite the source of photos from Nhan Dan Newspaper.
On the side of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, Permanent Vice President Ho Sy Minh affirmed that the coordination between the two prestigious units helps ensure objectivity and fairness in the judging and selection process, while attracting the participation of a large number of professional and non-professional authors across the country, raising the contest to a new level, helping to create resonance in the media and community, affirming that this is a professional photography playground./.
The contest is open to all professional and amateur photographers nationwide. Authors can submit color or black and white photos, single photos or photo series.
The photo entries reflect Vietnam's comprehensive innovation journey through images of people, communities and living spaces, such as reflecting changes in rural, mountainous, border and island areas... through infrastructure development, production, life, community tourism,education , healthcare and new rural construction; Recording changes in urban spaces: Planning, transportation, green and smart cities, urban life in the digital age; Honoring the image of Vietnamese people in the innovation period: Workers, intellectuals, armed forces, farmers, scientists, teachers, businessmen, young people with the spirit of creativity, adaptation, dedication and integration...
Regarding the award structure: There is 1 Special prize worth 50 million VND, 2 A prizes worth 30 million VND each, 3 B prizes worth 20 million VND each, 5 C prizes worth 10 million VND each, 10 Encouragement prizes worth 5 million VND each, along with additional prizes for single photos and photo reports. The Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists will present awards and certificates of regional exhibitions to the winning works...
The contest period is from June 28, 2025 to January 31, 2026. Entries are sent via thianh.nhandan.vn . Among the entries, the Organizing Committee will select about 100 works for the final round to display and print in books. The best works will be selected for awards.
The Award Ceremony will take place on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the first issue of Nhan Dan Newspaper (March 11, 2026).
