Determining that transport infrastructure "goes first, opens the way" has been prioritized for investment resources, creating an important driving force in socio -economic development.
INVESTMENT PRIORITY
Identifying traffic infrastructure as one of the breakthroughs, "going ahead, paving the way" to create development momentum, so Tien Giang 's traffic infrastructure has been gradually invested in and completed, connecting intra-regionally and inter-regionally.
Tien Giang's transport infrastructure is being invested in synchronously. |
Accordingly, Tien Giang has proactively coordinated with central ministries and branches to complete many key traffic projects such as: Upgrading and expanding National Highway 50, expanding narrow bridges on National Highway 1, completing the National Highway 1 bypass section of Cai Lay Town to expand the development space of Cai Lay Town, constructing and putting into operation the Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway phase 1.
One of the other key regional connectivity projects that has just been completed and put into use not long ago is My Thuan 2 Bridge. The project, put into use, is connected to the My Thuan - Can Tho expressway and the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong, Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway, forming a complete expressway from Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho.
According to Permanent Vice Chairman of Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Dung, the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025 continues to identify transport infrastructure as one of the key, breakthrough, and strategic aspects in the province's socio-economic development orientation during the term. Implementing the Resolution of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee has a policy of prioritizing investment in synchronous transport infrastructure. Accordingly, the province has been focusing on investing in the construction of many important transport projects to create momentum for the province's socio-economic development. Specifically, the province's total public investment capital for the 2021 - 2025 period for the Transport sector is about VND 9,615 billion, accounting for nearly 38% of the total medium-term public investment capital for the 2021 - 2025 period. |
This will shorten the travel time on this route to just under 2 hours, contributing to reducing traffic pressure and traffic accidents on National Highway 1. In addition, recently, Tien Giang province has actively coordinated with central ministries and branches to implement the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Project.
The project has a total length of 17.6 km, with a total investment of more than VND 6,810 billion from the state budget. To date, the progress of the Rach Mieu 2 bridge project has reached more than 72%, expected to be completed by the end of 2025. When completed, the project will contribute to reducing the load on the existing Rach Mieu bridge, which is often congested, especially during peak times during holidays and Tet, meeting the increasing transportation demand on National Highway 60, creating momentum for socio-economic development of Tien Giang and the provinces north of the Tien River.
In addition to projects invested by the Central Government, in recent times, Tien Giang province has focused on mobilizing resources to develop transport infrastructure. The system of provincial, district, communal and rural roads has been invested synchronously, meeting the needs of socio-economic development and travel of the people. One of the highlights is that the province has invested in building bridges to connect island communes with the mainland, creating momentum for local development. The most obvious highlight is that in Tien Giang province, there are currently about 9 large and small islands, separated from the mainland, which have now been basically connected on both banks.
In recent times, the province has focused on investing in urgent traffic bridges on provincial and district roads, including major bridges such as: Vam Tra Lot, Binh Xuan, Long Hung, Nguyen Van Tiep, Vam Cai Thia, My Duc Tay; bridges across Ngu Hiep islet. In particular, recently, the province has continued to invest in 2 major bridges with a total investment of 384.69 billion VND across Tan Thanh islet (Tan Phu Dong district) and Tan Phong bridge across Tan Phong islet (Cai Lay district).
Tan Thanh Bridge has been completed and put into use. Tan Phong Bridge will be completed in February 2025. Among the key transport projects that the province is implementing, Provincial Road 864 Project is one of the driving forces, with regional connectivity. The project has a total route length of about 111 km; the starting point intersects with National Highway 30 and the end point is at Tan Thanh intersection - Provincial Road 862. Phase 1 of the project has a total investment of 2,350 billion VND. The project is being urgently implemented and will soon be put into operation.
SPEED UP PROGRESS
Transport is also identified by Tien Giang as a priority investment sector in the coming time. Therefore, Tien Giang is mobilizing resources to implement many key transport projects, aiming to create a breakthrough in socio-economic development. According to the Provincial People's Committee, the province will focus on resolving investment procedures for the projects; at the same time, speed up the progress of site clearance and construction to soon complete and put into use.
The Cao Lanh - An Huu road component project is being coordinated by Tien Giang province and related units to accelerate the implementation progress. |
Accordingly, the province will focus on local budget capital to build traffic works; mobilize maximum resources from the people to build rural roads; diversify investment forms, create a favorable environment to attract investment capital. The province will also continue to implement plans to maintain, repair and ensure the safety of traffic infrastructure; promptly respond, repair, overcome damage and ensure traffic safety for infrastructure during the rainy and flood season.
In addition, Tien Giang will strengthen coordination with investors and related units to urge and accelerate the implementation of central investment projects in the area such as: Rach Mieu 2 Bridge; Component 2 project of Cao Lanh - An Huu road; Coastal road project through Tien Giang province connecting with Long An and Ben Tre provinces (phase 1); calling for investment in projects of Ho Chi Minh City - Long An - Tien Giang urban axis, Hung Vuong extended road...
Rach Mieu 2 Bridge is gradually taking shape. |
The province will also step up the urging and speeding up the implementation of key projects of the province such as: Provincial Road 864, Traffic road on both sides of Bao Dinh River; Traffic road serving industrial development in the East; Upgrading and expanding provincial roads 861, 863, 869 (connecting Tien Giang province and Dong Thap province)... In addition, the province will continue to implement key projects of the province that have been approved to ensure progress according to plan, creating convenience in people's travel.
Focusing on investing in synchronous infrastructure is still a long way, requiring a lot of resources. Based on practical needs and to effectively implement Conclusion 72 dated February 23, 2024 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution 13 dated January 16, 2012 of the 11th Party Central Committee on building synchronous infrastructure to basically turn our country into an industrialized country in a modern direction, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee directed that, based on the Provincial Planning approved by the Prime Minister, departments, branches and localities focus on implementing key and key tasks in accordance with the socio-economic development situation in each period, mobilizing and using resources to invest in building a synchronous, modern, reasonable and effective infrastructure system between branches and localities in the province, ensuring connectivity with provinces in the region and the whole country to meet the development requirements of the new period.
At the same time, it is necessary to address urgent requirements of the industry and localities, but at the same time, each place must form an infrastructure system based on ensuring synchronization, efficiency, and serving the needs of rapid and sustainable socio-economic development; strengthening international integration, protecting the environment, adapting to climate change, building new rural areas, narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas, improving people's lives; ensuring national defense - security and social order and safety...
