Accordingly, 295 billion VND will be supported to implement the residential project in Xuan Dong commune, including funds to relocate houses in landslide areas, build embankments to protect people's production land and rural roads. Similarly, for the residential project in the landslide area in Tan Phong commune (Cai Lay district), Tien Giang province proposed the Central Government to support 139 billion VND.
Previously, Tien Giang province also proposed that the Central Government allocate capital to invest in the Go Cong coastal erosion prevention project with a total investment of about 336 billion VND. According to the Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee, the Go Cong coastal area no longer has protective forests, waves directly hit the dike body, so it is necessary to invest in a wave-reducing dike line to prevent landslides combined with accretion, creating a beach to restore protective forests.
In addition, the Tien River bank at the old My Thuan ferry terminal (in the communes of Hoa Hung, An Huu, Tan Thanh, Cai Be district) often experiences landslides and is tending to eat deep into the mainland, causing orchards and houses of people to be at risk of collapsing into the river at any time. Tien Giang province has proposed the Central Government to support funding for the project to handle landslides along the Tien River dike in the 3 communes of Hoa Hung - An Huu - Tan Thanh (phase 3), the total estimated cost of the project is about 295 billion VND.
