Tien Giang: 'Attracting tourists' from planning 3 eco-tourism areas

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tien Giang, in the first 5 months of 2025, the number of tourists to the province was 679 thousand, reaching 32.3% of the plan and increasing by 4% over the same period; of which, international visitors reached 234 thousand, reaching 33.4% of the plan, increasing by 8.2% over the same period.

Tien Giang currently has 16 major tourist destinations, employing thousands of workers, mainly rural workers. Community tourism models in rural areas operate effectively, meeting the needs of tourists visiting Tien Giang for sightseeing and experience.

In addition, the province has nearly 20 operating travel agencies, over 200 motorboats transporting tourists, and nearly 100 restaurants and hotels constantly improving the quality of services and products to meet the needs of domestic and international tourists.

In 2025, Tien Giang aims to welcome about 2.1 million tourists, including 700,000 international visitors, with tourism revenue reaching VND1,507 billion.

To achieve this goal, the province proactively connects provinces and cities in the region to develop safe inter-regional tourist routes and destinations; focuses on calling for investment in tourism development, including attracting strategic investors to form large-scale, attractive eco-tourism areas, tourism service areas, entertainment areas, and projects on conservation, exploitation, and promotion of cultural and historical values.

In order to continue to attract tourists to Tien Giang, the Tourism Management Department has stepped up propaganda and mobilized tourism companies to focus on ensuring security, tourism safety and food hygiene and safety with the aim of serving tourists better. Tourist destinations and tourism businesses have proactively arranged forces and facilities, landscape decoration, ensured environmental hygiene and strictly complied with regulations in tourism business activities. Notably, during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, relevant departments, branches and sectors conducted field surveys at tourist areas, historical and cultural relics, and tourism business establishments to grasp the actual situation of operations, promptly correct limitations and shortcomings; support in resolving difficulties and recommendations of establishments, in order to improve the quality of service.
