A few days ago, there was information that Musk made a huge investment when buying 10,000 A100 Tensor Core GPUs - a real "monster" GPU for AI-related tasks created by Nvidia.
This isn’t the first time Elon Musk has shown an interest in AI. He was an investor in OpenAI, but left the company in 2018 after a power struggle with current OpenAI CEO Sam Atman. The hostility and interest in AI may be the reason Musk wants to create a product that competes with ChatGPT.
At the moment, information about X.AI is still a mystery. Interestingly, the appearance of X.AI comes not long after Elon Musk and many other famous figures signed a letter calling on companies in the AI field to "slow down and stop all AI development for 6 months" to wait for the necessary regulations. This makes many people question Musk's "hypocrisy" in his call, where he simply wants to buy time to have a better chance of competing.
