Prime Minister returns to Hanoi, ending working trip to Brazil and Dominican Republic

According to the Vietnam News Agency Special Envoy, in the early morning of November 23, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife, along with the Vietnamese delegation, arrived at Noi Bai Airport, Hanoi, successfully concluding the working trip to attend the G20 Summit and work in Brazil, and an official visit to the Dominican Republic.

Attending all major activities within the framework of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Prime Minister delivered important speeches at discussion sessions on “the fight against poverty” and “sustainable development and energy transition”.

On the occasion of the Summit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had bilateral meetings with more than 30 leaders of countries and international organizations attending the Summit. Thereby, contributing to the overall success of the G20 Summit; promoting Vietnam's relations with countries and international organizations; clearly portraying the image of a dynamic, open Vietnam, "a friend, a reliable partner and a responsible member of the international community".

Along with attending the G20 Summit, in this second working visit to Brazil in over a year, the Prime Minister had various activities in Rio de Janeiro such as: holding talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and issuing the Vietnam - Brazil Joint Statement on upgrading the relationship between the two countries to a Strategic Partnership; attending the inauguration ceremony of the memorial plaque for President Ho Chi Minh in Rio de Janeiro; attending the Vietnam Day Program in Brazil; attending the Vietnam - Brazil Business Forum and working with leading Brazilian businesses; meeting the Vietnamese community in Brazil...

In particular, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made a historic visit to the Dominican Republic, becoming the first high-ranking Vietnamese leader to visit the country after nearly 20 years of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Prime Minister held talks and meetings with the President, the President of the Senate, and the President of the House of Representatives of the Dominican Republic; received leaders of political parties of the Dominican Republic; attended the inauguration ceremony of the restoration of the Ho Chi Minh Monument in the capital city of Santo Domingo; attended the Vietnam - Dominican Republic Business Forum; delivered a policy speech at the Dominican Republic Academy of Advanced Education for Diplomatic and Consular Training. The two sides adopted a Joint Statement affirming the determination of the two Governments and announcing the directions and measures agreed upon by both sides to further strengthen the solidarity, friendship and good cooperation between Vietnam and the Dominican Republic in the future; and agreed to promote the elevation of Vietnam - Dominican Republic relations to a new height.
