In a post on her personal page the same day, Ms. Paetongtarn said Thailand and Cambodia had agreed to “adjust the armies” of the two countries “at times of conflict” to reduce tensions.

The two sides will use the Joint Land Boundary Delimitation Committee (JBC - a technical mechanism created under the 2000 Memorandum of Understanding to oversee border surveys and delimitations between Thailand and Cambodia) to resolve ongoing land disputes and move towards lasting peace .

The Thai prime minister added that both sides will strengthen cooperation through the JBC, which is scheduled to meet on June 14, affirming that conservation efforts will be made at all levels to “bring the relationship between the two countries back to normal as soon as possible.”

Ms. Paetongtarn also praised the Royal Thai Army, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government agencies for their role in de-escalating the situation, and called on the people to have confidence in the government's ability to resolve the issue to ensure no serious conflicts occur.

Meanwhile, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Phumtham Wechayachai also appreciated the efforts of the armies of both countries to restore peace.

He expressed hope that the upcoming JBC meeting will lead to a peaceful solution for both sides./.
