Central Maternity Hospital received the Third Class Labor Medal

On the morning of July 18, the Central Maternity Hospital held a ceremony to celebrate the hospital's 70th anniversary (July 19, 1955 - July 19, 2025) and received the Third Class Labor Medal.

70 years of contribution to Vietnam's obstetrics industry

The Central Maternity Hospital was established on July 19, 1955, and is the leading medical facility in obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive health care in Vietnam. Currently, the hospital has a scale of 1,000 inpatient beds, with 14 clinical departments, 9 paraclinical departments, 7 specialized centers and 9 functional rooms.

Modern equipment systems are invested, meeting international standards such as the Autodelfia system (prenatal and newborn screening), Tendem Mass (metabolic disorder screening) and Sequencing (QF-PCR testing).

The hospital's team of experts includes professors and doctors who are well-trained domestically and internationally. Over the years, the hospital has achieved many outstanding medical achievements, contributing to improving the quality of health care for the community.

People's Physician, Professor, Doctor Nguyen Duy Anh, Director of the Central Maternity Hospital, shared that over the past 70 years, the Central Maternity Hospital has mastered and successfully deployed many advanced techniques in medical examination and treatment, bringing about outstanding treatment results, especially for complicated and dangerous cases.

With the motto "Innovation from within - Taking the patient as the center - Following the patient's footsteps...", over the years, the hospital has constantly innovated, strongly developed specialized medical science and technology and met the increasing needs of the people; many advanced and difficult techniques have been researched and successfully applied at the hospital.

"Over the past 7 decades, we have been writing a journey to help mothers' dreams come true, nurturing the budding lives with wisdom and compassion. Future generations will always remember the core values and vision to continue to impart compassion and wisdom for the future happiness of families," the hospital director expressed.

Director Nguyen Duy Anh shared that in the era of digital transformation, the hospital has quickly seized the opportunity to modernize the medical examination and treatment process. Electronic health records, smart hospital management systems, online appointment booking applications... help reduce administrative procedures and save time for patients.

Carrying out the task of transferring technology to lower levels, the Central Obstetrics Hospital currently has 19 satellite hospitals. The hospital has actively applied technology in training and directing the lower levels, such as using the remote consultation system, supporting lower-level medical facilities to handle difficult cases; improving the quality of reproductive health care while also creating a premise for sustainable health development, contributing to reducing the gap in health care between regions and affirming its leading role in the national health system.

To develop many specialized techniques in obstetrics and gynecology interventions, the Central Obstetrics Hospital recently opened a Fetal Medicine Center with international standard surgical equipment on July 9, 2025; putting the second facility in Ngoc My commune, Quoc Oai district (old), Hanoi into operation in the second quarter of 2025.

Developing many new techniques, enhancing international integration

On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Health, Professor, Dr. Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health, commended and expressed deep gratitude to the hospital for the silent sacrifices of the medical team for the cause of maternal and child health care.

"Overcoming many challenges, the hospital has affirmed its role as a leading specialized center, responsible for training, transferring techniques, researching and building professional standards in obstetrics and gynecology for the whole country. These achievements of the hospital stem from the tradition of solidarity, courage, intelligence and dedication to patients of the hospital staff", said Deputy Minister Tran Van Thuan.

With a glorious tradition, innovation and aspiration to serve, the Deputy Minister suggested that the Central Maternity Hospital continue to invest in developing a team of obstetricians and gynecologists, scientists, teachers, and medical administrators, with a comprehensive vision and integrated thinking.

The hospital promotes scientific research linked to clinical practice, technological breakthroughs in fetal medicine and neonatal care, taking innovation as the driving force for development. Obstetrics and gynecology needs to be one of the pioneering fields in the application of precision medicine, artificial intelligence, cell technology and genetic engineering; perfecting a modern, transparent, autonomous hospital management model associated with accountability; building an exemplary, humane medical ethics culture environment, nurturing the spirit of service in every action and every decision.

The Deputy Minister also suggested that the hospital should continue to build strategic cooperation with the world's leading medical centers, participate in regional academic networks, organize inter-institutional and inter-national conferences and research, and gradually form high-quality medical service models, aiming to develop specialized medical tourism in the field of reproductive health care.

At the ceremony, authorized by the President, Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan awarded the Third Class Labor Medal to the Central Maternity Hospital; awarded the Third Class Labor Medal to a group and 3 individuals. Two groups of the hospital and 2 individuals were also honored to receive Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister. On this occasion, the hospital had 5 more doctors awarded the title of Meritorious Physician.
