Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra survived a no-confidence vote in parliament on March 26, after two days of opposition attacks, according to Reuters.

Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra thanked her coalition on Tuesday for helping her survive a no-confidence vote. She also wrote on social media X that every vote helps her and her cabinet serve the country, according to Reuters.

Despite a lackluster showing in opinion polls, the results of today's vote showed that Ms Paetongtarn's coalition remains strong, according to Reuters.

Previously, Ms. Paetongtarn (39 years old), who became Thailand's youngest prime minister in August 2024, faced a series of accusations in parliament this week, from economic mismanagement and tax evasion to family favoritism and allowing her father, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, to interfere in the government, according to Reuters.

The opposition People's Party, the largest party in parliament, has directed much of its attacks at Ms Paetongtarn's close relationship with Mr Thaksin.

Ms Paetongtarn has denied the allegations against her during the debate and has repeatedly said she only takes advice from her father. Ms Paetongtarn has insisted her government is not influenced by anyone, while Mr Thaksin says he is retired and only gives advice.

"I am doing this to the best of my ability. I am also the daughter of Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra, I say this proudly," Ms. Paetongtarn said on March 25. "I ask all of you to evaluate my skills and efforts as prime minister. Criticism should focus on the work. That will be more beneficial to the parliament and the country," Ms. Paetongtarn emphasized.
