Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attends Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum

TPO - This morning (September 25), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the 5th Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum (HEF) - 2024, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. In the afternoon of the same day, the Prime Minister delivered a speech at the policy dialogue session.

The forum took place with the theme “Industrial transformation, a new driving force for sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City”. Attending the solemn opening session were Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of central ministries, provinces and cities; international guests, experts and scientists .

This afternoon, a policy dialogue session will take place with the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister will give a speech and ministries and branches will have a Q&A session. The activity aims to create opportunities for localities and businesses to have in-depth and substantive discussions with the Prime Minister and central ministries and branches on the current situation and solutions in applying the industrial transformation model in the city as well as national strategic issues, and at the same time recommend to the Government models, solutions and policies at the macro level.

Speaking at the opening of the forum, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen said that green transformation is the focus, digital transformation is a breakthrough task and development cooperation is an important and inevitable task.

In the immediate future, Ho Chi Minh City must overcome three major challenges, including: Quickly improving the socio-economic infrastructure connection system, especially transport, technology and environmental infrastructure; improving the quality of human resources; reforming administrative procedures and institutions and having outstanding and breakthrough mechanisms and policies in mobilizing investment resources for development, removing difficulties and obstacles, creating more opportunities and favorable conditions for the business community to confidently invest, operate and develop.

At this forum, Ho Chi Minh City listened to and received many valuable opinions, experiences and suggestions from domestic and international delegates (at the previous 4 forums). At the same time, we also heard the commitments and specific actions of the city government in many areas, in each short, medium and long term period. "We seriously accept and will effectively organize the implementation of the Prime Minister's direct instructions at the forum's activities", Mr. Nguyen Van Nen expressed.

On this occasion, the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee also expressed his gratitude to friends who have been with Ho Chi Minh City during difficult days, especially the city will never forget those who have helped it overcome the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
