The Prime Minister stated that Vietnam is applying models, including the public-private partnership model, to invest in large-scale key infrastructure projects, especially in transportation, energy, and digital infrastructure.
According to a special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, on the occasion of attending the 16th annual Pioneers Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) and working in China, on June 25, in Tianjin city, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh worked with leaders of multinational corporations to promote infrastructure development, production, and processing of food and beverages in Vietnam.
Specifically, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received the leader of the German Siemens Group, Mr. Peter Koerte, member of the Board of Directors, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Strategy Officer of the group.
Mr. Peter Koerte said Siemens is a global technology corporation in the fields of industry, infrastructure, transportation and healthcare.
Siemens is currently a pioneer in the field of industrial artificial intelligence (AI), with revenue last year reaching 75.9 billion euros (equivalent to 88.05 billion USD). The group currently has about 312,000 employees worldwide.
In Vietnam, Siemens officially established a branch in Vietnam since 1993 and currently has 3 offices in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, and a factory in Binh Duong.
Mr. Peter Koerte said Siemens wants to participate in infrastructure development projects, especially high-speed railway development in Vietnam.
Appreciating the effective investment activities of Siemens Group globally in general and in Vietnam in particular, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed the group's desire to expand investment and business in Vietnam, especially in the field of infrastructure - one of the "breakthrough" priorities in Vietnam's socio-economic development in the coming period.
The Prime Minister made it clear that Vietnam identifies infrastructure development as one of the pillars of national development. Vietnam is currently applying models, including the public-private partnership model, to invest in large-scale national key infrastructure projects, especially in transportation, energy and digital infrastructure.
Providing information on the vision, programs and plans for infrastructure development in Vietnam, including roads, railways, aviation and maritime transport to effectively exploit development spaces (including ground space, underground space, sea space and outer space), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh announced that Vietnam has reformed its institutions with many open mechanisms and policies, creating favorable conditions for businesses to invest with a wider scope and more open mechanisms. The Prime Minister asked Siemens to closely coordinate with relevant ministries, branches and localities to concretize cooperation activities.
In addition, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed Siemens' interest in Vietnam's high-speed railway project, saying that in addition to this project, Vietnam is investing in building railway lines connecting with China to Central Asia and Europe. The Prime Minister asked Siemens to work with ministries and the Vietnam Railway Corporation to discuss participation.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also received Ms. Anne Tse, CEO of the Asia-Pacific region of the multinational corporation PepsiCo specializing in food, instant food and beverages. This corporation is currently the leading corporation in the United States and has been present in Vietnam for more than 31 years with a food and beverage processing plant with a total investment of nearly 1 billion USD.
Ms. Anne Tse said PepsiCo wishes to not only invest in food and beverage factories in Vietnam but also invest in developing high-tech agriculture and processing for both the domestic market and export to other countries in the region.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated and highly appreciated the successful investment results of PepsiCo Group globally and in Vietnam in recent times, especially the group's new projects in Ha Nam and Long An provinces, as well as PepsiCo's practical and effective contributions to Vietnam's economic development and Vietnam-US relations.
Providing information on Vietnam's socio-economic development situation and strategy as well as Vietnam-US relations, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam is committed to creating all favorable conditions, including institutional reform, streamlining the apparatus, expanding development space, and removing barriers and obstacles to facilitate investment and business in Vietnam by domestic and foreign enterprises, including US enterprises.
Noting that Vietnam has abundant raw materials but many agricultural products are only harvested seasonally and are difficult to preserve, the Prime Minister suggested that PepsiCo invest in deep processing of Vietnamese agricultural products so that Vietnamese agricultural products can carry the PepsiCo brand, increasing the value of products to not only supply the Vietnamese market of 100 million people but also to countries in the region and around the world.
To consolidate and maintain the positive development momentum of economic, trade and investment cooperation in particular and the Vietnam-US relationship in general, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that PepsiCo continue to research and expand investment cooperation, while also being a bridge for US businesses and PepsiCo's partners to increase investment in Vietnam.
Along with that, PepsiCo cooperates and supports Vietnamese enterprises and farmers to improve production capacity to increase competitiveness and participate in the global supply chain; supports the transfer of knowledge, experience, techniques, solutions, and modern technology to promote partner enterprises to participate in the process of restructuring the economy associated with innovation of growth models towards green and sustainable growth./.
