Parents 'light the lamp' during the first day of the 2025 high school graduation exam

On the morning of June 26, more than 1 million candidates nationwide officially took the Literature exam - the first subject of the 2025 High School Graduation Exam in essay format within 120 minutes.

At the exam site of Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, many candidates and their parents arrived very early. Parents held their children’s hands, checked their papers, and encouraged them to calmly take the exam.

Standing quietly outside the exam site gate, watching every step of her grandson Nguyen Ngoc Bao Anh, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu Ngan's (80 years old) face showed clear worry and anxiety.

Ms. Ngan shared that Bao Anh's mother was away on a business trip so she asked her grandmother to take her to the exam. Since she was little, Bao Anh had lived with her grandmother. Because her daughter was busy with work, Ms. Ngan took care of her granddaughter on her behalf. When the day came to reap the results after 12 years of studying, Ms. Ngan couldn't help but worry.

"My child is very good at home and listens to me. I couldn't sleep all night. We live near the exam site and I told him to go by himself, but I think he can't go alone on this important day. I have to accompany him with the hope that he will stay calm, do well on the test, and achieve high results in this important exam," Mrs. Ngan said emotionally.

Like many other parents, Ms. Lai Thi Hien (45 years old) woke up very early to prepare breakfast, reminding her son Do The Hoang Anh to check his papers and school supplies to enter the exam with the most confidence and clarity. This morning, Ms. Hien's whole family took her son to the exam site and did not forget to encourage him to get good results.

Ms. Hien said that Hoang Anh himself is a hard-working student and studies well, so his family is also at ease. However, when their child takes the exam, parents like her share his feelings. This year is also a year of innovation, innovation in the exam format. "I wish my child and his friends to do well in their exams, always having their parents and younger brother by their side to encourage and share," Ms. Hien said.

Sharing the same sentiment, Ms. Nguyen Thi Khanh Ly felt very nervous. Before her child took this important exam, she and her husband were very worried. "I also don't know what this year's exam will be like, what the scoring structure will be, in general everything is very different from previous years. However, with the dedicated guidance of the teachers, the teachers also promptly informed the children about this year's exam, so the family feels a bit more secure. I myself feel very nervous, that is also the general mood and the number of candidates taking the exam this year is higher than previous years. However, the family really hopes that the children will be confident and do the exam in the best and most effective way," Ms. Ly shared.

Present at the school since 3am, Ms. Bui Thi Tam, Head of the Parents' Committee of Hanoi College of Urban Construction, said that this year, the school has organized the rental of 12 cars to take more than 500 candidates to 4 exam locations.

Ms. Tam shared that she has a child taking the exam and is also the school's parent representative, so she, like many others, was extremely nervous and worried. Because the exam location was far away, the school decided to rent a car and arrange all breakfast meals including sticky rice and bread to ensure food safety at school for the candidates.

"In addition, after the exam ended, the school and parents also asked the 3 secondary schools near the exam site to arrange lunch for the children. This is to ensure the health and safety of the children and especially to make sure that they arrive on time for the exam. As of this morning, through information gathering, all the children have arrived at the exam site safely and on time. In particular, the school also arranged a 16-seat car in case any candidates are late. We are completely assured," Ms. Tam shared./.
