HAGL goalkeeper humble before the opening match of U23 Southeast Asia

Although he is considered to have many opportunities to start at the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien still maintains a modest attitude, affirming that he is working hard every day to work with the team towards the goal of defending the championship.

“My team and I are very focused, looking forward to tomorrow's match with the best spirit. In this tournament, there are no weak opponents. The important thing is that we maintain our spirit and play with determination to achieve the best results,” goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien expressed his confidence and determination before the opening match of U23 Vietnam at the U23 Southeast Asian Championship.

On the afternoon of July 18, U23 Vietnam entered the last training session before facing U23 Laos. The training atmosphere of U23 Vietnam was cheerful and cohesive. The players were excited about the reflex and tactical exercises created by fitness assistant Cedric Rogers. At the end of the training session, the whole team played a match to perfect their playing style before the opening match.

Tran Trung Kien is one of three goalkeepers that coach Kim Sang-sik brought to Indonesia this time. The goalkeeper born in 2001 is currently the number one choice in the goal of HAGL in the V.League and has been called up to the national team. In the context that teammates in the same position such as Cao Van Binh (SLNA) or Nguyen Tan (Ba Ria-Vung Tau) still lack experience, the young goalkeeper of HAGL is considered to have many opportunities to start in this tournament. However, he still maintains a modest attitude.

“The difference between the three goalkeepers is not much. I always try my best in every training session and learn a lot from goalkeeper coach Lee Won-jae. Every training session with him is a valuable opportunity because he has experience in the World Cup. At HAGL, every time I go on the field is a lesson. I always try to take advantage of every opportunity to show myself,” Trung Kien said.

Regarding the team's personnel, after parting ways with Thanh Nhan, on the afternoon of July 18, midfielder Le Van Thuan also rejoined the team after being called up. Van Thuan had practiced with the team since the beginning of the tournament but was removed from the team before departure.
