33 bridges on 56 km of Vung Ang-Bung expressway are ready to open to traffic.
Vung Ang - Bung Expressway started construction in January 2023 with a total capital of more than 12,540 billion VND. The starting point is at the intersection of Ky Hoa commune, Ha Tinh province, connecting Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway. The end point is at Bo Trach commune, Quang Tri province, connecting with Bung - Van Ninh expressway (opened to traffic in April) at Phong Nha intersection.
The Vung Ang - Bung Expressway is nearly 56km long, of which the section through Ha Tinh is 13km long and Quang Tri is more than 42km long. Phase 1 of the project has a scale of 4 lanes, a 17m wide roadbed, a design speed of 80-90km/h, invested by Project Management Board 6 ( Ministry of Construction ). This is an expressway with many sections passing through complex terrain such as hills, mountains, and lakes. The entire route has 33 bridges, of which 28 are on the expressway, 5 are cross-road bridges over the expressway.
In the 13 km through Ha Tinh alone, the project has 5 overpasses over lakes, dams, and valleys. Deo But Tunnel - the most important item on the Vung Ang - Bung highway is nearly 1 km long, with an investment of more than 1,000 billion VND, passing through the Dong Nang mountain range (Ha Tinh).

Deo But Tunnel is designed with two tubes, the left tunnel is 45m away from the right tunnel. The left tunnel is 716m long, the right tunnel is 840m long, each tunnel is 15m wide, 8m high. In the investment phase, the right tunnel tube in the North-South direction will be put into operation first. The left tunnel tube was approved for complete investment by the Ministry of Construction on July 17.
This section of the highway also has a Gianh River overpass about 2.8 km long, designed to be 17.5 m wide, with 4 lanes and an investment of more than 1,000 billion VND. This is the longest bridge on the North-South expressway through Quang Tri province. The Gianh River overpass has been completed and is ready for traffic.

Before the opening day, in the XL-02 package constructed by Phuong Thanh Company, weak ground positions that had to wait for settlement were replaced by a solution of treating soil cement piles. This solution not only overcomes the situation of waiting for prolonged settlement, but also helps to significantly shorten the construction time.
Currently, the contractor is completing the final tasks such as painting lines, installing signs, and completing the lighting system to prepare for handover. Many other teams are working on the lighting system, installing traffic safety equipment, and clearing mud and dirt, cleaning the entire road surface to ensure that when the road opens to traffic on the morning of August 19, it meets the standards of being clean, beautiful, and safe.
Putting into operation the Vung Ang - Bung route will be the final "piece" to help connect smoothly from Hanoi to Quang Tri.
Van Ninh-Cam Lo Expressway urgently completes final stages
The North-South expressway project, Van Ninh - Cam Lo section through Quang Tri province, is 65.5 km long, with 4 interchanges, 30 bridges, 41 underpasses, and 240 culverts of all kinds.
The Van Ninh - Cam Lo Expressway was started in January 2023, invested by the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board with a total capital of nearly VND 9,920 billion. The long expressway starts from Van Ninh commune, connecting with the Bung - Van Ninh expressway at the intersection of National Highway 9B and the completed overpass. The entire route has relatively flat terrain, except for the section through An Ma lake that requires mountain cutting.

The Van Ninh - Cam Lo Expressway does not have an emergency lane, only a few emergency stops are arranged every 4-5 km and run almost parallel to Ho Chi Minh Road, intersecting at some locations. At these intersections, underpasses are built to ensure vehicles can circulate safely and conveniently after the project is completed.
Similar to the Vung Ang - Bung expressway, the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway is designed with a cross-section of phase one consisting of 4 lanes, allowing for a maximum speed of 60-90 km/h. When completed, this expressway will be expanded to 6 lanes, with 2 emergency lanes, and a design speed of 100 km/h.
4 interconnecting intersections, including: National Highway 9C intersection at Km 690+764.91, National Highway 9D intersection at Km 713+276.5, Provincial Road 75 intersection at Km 727+319.37, National Highway 9A intersection at Km 740+884.83.
According to the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, up to now, the main route has completed 65.55 km (100%), including 4 interchanges, 8 direct overpasses and works on the route and the Ho Chi Minh Road restoration road.
Preparations for the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway to open to traffic before August 19 are underway. Traffic safety items such as railings, guardrails and signs have been completely installed along the entire route.
Along the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway, the system of median strips, anti-glare nets, corrugated iron fences... have been installed.
The completed Van Ninh - Cam Lo section project connects with the Bung - Van Ninh expressway and is about to connect with the Vung Ang - Bung component project, the Cam Lo - La Son expressway, thereby connecting the North - South expressway to Quang Tri, through Hue, Da Nang... creating a continuous traffic axis, contributing to the diversion and reduction of traffic load for National Highway 1, Ho Chi Minh Road section through Quang Tri province.
