According to India Times , on July 12, the AAIB announced the preliminary investigation results of the crash of Air India flight AI171 carrying 242 people, killing 260 people, including victims on the ground.
The results showed that 3 seconds after taking off from Ahmedabad (India) on June 12, the fuel supply to both engines of the Air India Boeing 787 was cut off. The engine fan speed began to decrease and the plane gradually lost altitude before passing through the airport wall.

"The fuel control switches to both engines were flipped from the 'on' to 'off' position, one second apart, before the aircraft slowed down," the report said.
Both pilots were surprised by the situation. "One pilot asked the other why he had cut off fuel? The other pilot replied that he had not done so," the AAIB report said.

The switches were then turned on and the two engines started again, but it was too late. Nine seconds later, the pilot issued a "Mayday" emergency signal and the plane crashed into a medical school dormitory, killing all 241 people on board and many on the ground.
Currently, authorities are continuing to investigate this aviation tragedy.
Shortly after the report was released, Air India said: "Air India confirms receipt of the preliminary report released by the AAIB on 12 July 2025. We are working closely with the AAIB and other authorities during the investigation."
