The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month every year. In 2023, this traditional holiday falls on Friday (September 29). The weather forecast for this occasion is generally rainy in the afternoon and evening.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from now until the end of October 2023, the weather trend in the northern provinces is unlikely to see widespread heavy rains like in July and August.

However, because the forecast period is a transitional period, affected by the early cold air of the season, combined with the tropical convergence zone, in the coming time there is still a possibility of short-term heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind, which can cause the risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas.

In the immediate future, the hydrometeorological agency forecasts that from now until October 10, there is a possibility of heavy rain across the country, but it is unlikely to last long.

Notably, thunderstorms, lightning, and possibly hail continue to occur nationwide.

Total rainfall in the Northern and Central regions during the forecast period from now until October 10 will generally be approximately equal to or 10-30% higher, in some places higher; in other places, it will generally be approximately equal to the average of many years during the same period.

In the South Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions, from the night of September 19 to September 27, there is a possibility of scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally with moderate to heavy rain in the afternoon and evening.

From around September 23, in the Central Central region, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

However, the hydrometeorological agency also noted that the level of detail of forecast information for specific locations, especially long-range forecasts, is still limited in reliability, because there are changes and adjustments according to weather fluctuations.

Therefore, people need to follow weather forecasts updated on the official website of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting and official channels to promptly update the most specific information and news.
