At 7:00 am on June 30, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (Department of Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting) issued an urgent warning about the risk of flash floods, landslides and subsidence in some localities in the northern mountainous region, especially Lai Chau, Ha Giang and Thai Nguyen. According to the center, many places have recorded continuous heavy rain. The large amount of accumulated rain has caused soil moisture in many areas to near or reach saturation (conditions that are very susceptible to flash floods and landslides).
The meteorological agency warns that heavy rains could continue on the morning of June 30 with an amount of 20-50mm, and in some places it could exceed 90mm. Locations identified as being at very high risk include Thai Nguyen City and the districts of Dai Tu, Dong Hy, Phu Binh, Vo Nhai, etc. of Thai Nguyen Province. Localities should check hazardous areas, and people in mountainous areas and along streams should proactively evacuate if unusual signs such as rapid water rise, cracked house foundations, or landslides appear.
