Today (January 31), the homepage of Gresik Petrokimia Club (Indonesia) posted a farewell announcement for former captain of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team Tran Thi Thanh Thuy.

This move is considered surprising because according to the original agreement, Thanh Thuy will play for this club for the entire season of the Indonesian Volleyball Championship (Proliga). However, the tournament has just finished the first leg and gone through the first match of the second leg. Thanh Thuy also played quite impressively but the Gresik Petrokimia club did not achieve good results.

Before officially announcing the departure of Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Gresik Petrokimia Club announced a new foreign player, Julia Sangiacomo, from the US. Currently ranked 5th out of 7 teams in the Proliga, by recruiting a new foreign player to replace Thanh Thuy, Gresik Petrokimia Club aims to reach the top 4 to compete in the semi-finals.

Thus, in a short time, Thanh Thuy has said goodbye to two foreign clubs, Kuzeyboru (Turkey) and Gresik Petrokimia (Indonesia). It is likely that she will return to play for VTV Binh Dien Long An Club to compete in the first round of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship next March. The injury in Japan while playing for PFU Blue Cats Club caused the former captain of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team to take a long time to recover and has not been able to return to her peak form.
