Currently, the province has 28,124 establishments producing and trading agricultural, forestry and aquatic products. To build and develop a safe food brand, the province has planned concentrated production areas, issued codes for growing areas, registered aquaculture, and applied safety standards such as VietGAP and organic to increase product reliability.
The VietGAP certified cultivation area is 322.35 hectares; the organic agricultural area is 329 hectares of cinnamon, with 54 growing area codes on a total area of 1,049.32 hectares (34 codes for export, 20 codes for domestic consumption) and 7 packaging facility codes, helping to trace the origin transparently, creating a solid foundation for local brands in the market.
Organizations, associations, and unions also mobilize union members to actively participate in building safe food production chains in the area. Typically, the Farmers' Association has provided capital to help build and develop forms of production linkage economy , collective economic models in agriculture to ensure food safety. To date, the total outstanding loans from the Provincial Farmers' Support Fund have reached 32,535 billion VND, implemented through 39 projects, 379 member households have received loans.
Along with establishing safe production areas, Quang Ninh also promotes the application of technology. The database system for tracing the origin of safe agricultural, forestry and aquatic products has been supplemented and updated, serving the provision of accounts for organizations and individuals. Fast retrieval via QR codes not only helps management agencies monitor quality but also enhances brand reputation on modern distribution channels and e-commerce.
In addition, the province also focuses on evaluating and classifying OCOP products to honor typical products, contributing to promoting the image of safety and quality. This work is organized closely and objectively; at the same time, the province is ready to revoke certificates for products that do not meet requirements, ensuring to maintain consumer confidence.
Not only stopping at production, trade promotion and consumption connection activities are implemented flexibly and effectively. In the first 6 months of 2025, the province organized 2 national and provincial trade promotion programs, launched 6 fairs combining OCOP, and established an exhibition area to introduce OCOP products and regional specialties. Actively implementing activities to connect product consumption, innovating trade promotion activities through organizing and arranging booths to promote e-commerce activities. This has created conditions and support for cooperatives, enterprises, and units producing OCOP products to access online sales.
Quang Ninh is also actively expanding international market connections. Trade and promotion activities in border areas are implemented to maintain and expand export markets. The province also coordinates the implementation of the project "Strengthening international cooperation to build and develop Vietnam's Halal industry by 2030", aiming towards Halal standards, opening up opportunities to access markets in Muslim countries.
To date, businesses and cooperatives participating in the safe production chain have recorded growth in sales and brand recognition. Many farmers producing according to VietGAP standards report stable output, with selling prices 10-15% higher than mass products.
The province has maintained the annual allocation of funding to support communication, training, inspection, monitoring, and handling of violations. In the first 6 months of 2025, the province organized 131 conferences and training courses on food safety for 10,158 people, including managers of food production and trading establishments.
Currently, Quang Ninh has been building a solid foundation for the brand of safe food production by planning raw material areas, applying quality standards, improving traceability and promoting trade both domestically and internationally. Thereby, contributing to protecting consumers' health and expanding the market for local products, aiming at sustainable socio-economic development of the province.
