The Central Coast region plays a particularly important strategic role and position in terms of economy, politics , culture, society, environment, national defense, security and foreign affairs of the whole country. Rapid and sustainable development of the Central Coast region is a major policy of the Party, expressed in Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW dated November 3, 2022 of the Politburo on the direction of socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the North Central and Central Coast regions to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of the Central Coast have implemented many cooperation programs including: Trade, investment, agriculture, industry, tourism, health, education, science - technology, transportation, culture - sports and labor - society, contributing to further accelerating the socio -economic development in localities in the region.
Speaking at the Conference, Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan said that the Central Coast region, including the provinces of Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen , Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh, has potential and advantages for economic development in many fields, especially marine economy and seaports, an important strength for socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security of the sea and islands of the region and the whole country.
One of the biggest advantages of the localities in the region is their geographical location near the country's largest economic locomotive, Ho Chi Minh City, and the localities are all bordered by the sea, with many lagoons, bays, beautiful beaches, and a fresh living environment; diversely stratified terrain, creating the basis for the formation of many attractive tourist areas and spots, suitable for the investment needs of businesses and the needs of experience and exploration of tourists.
At the same time, localities in the region still have many industrial parks and clusters with large clean land funds, increasingly complete and synchronous investment attraction policies; working-age population; North-South transport infrastructure has been significantly improved in recent times. In particular, this is also a region with its own cultural identity, self-reliance, dynamism and creativity.
Thanks to that, in recent years, the Party Committee and the government of each locality in the region have made strong efforts, proactively exploited potentials and advantages, promoted investment attraction, enlisted the support of the Central Government, the support and companionship of all classes of people and the business community, accelerated the pace of socio-economic development and achieved positive and comprehensive results in all sectors and fields, contributing to promoting the Central Coast region to gradually become one of the leading dynamic development regions in the country.
Regarding Binh Dinh province, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan shared that from a province with a low starting point, in recent years, it has risen to become a fairly developed province, the scale of the economy changes every year. By 2023, the economic scale of the province will reach more than 117 trillion VND, ranking 24th out of 63 localities nationwide and 5th out of 14 localities in the North Central and Central Coast regions. In the first 9 months of 2024 alone, the gross local product (GRDP) increased by 7.53% (ranking 25th out of 63 localities nationwide and 5th out of 14 localities in the North Central and Central Coast regions).
The socio-economic development perspective of the province in the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, is to maximize the potential and specific advantages to develop Binh Dinh into a province with a high proportion of industrial and service economy; a center of processing, manufacturing, service and tourism industry in the Central Coast and Central Highlands regions.
Along with that, it will become a major center of the country for marine economic development; an important economic and foreign trade hub between Vietnam and countries in the Mekong sub-region; a national and international tourist center with a synchronous and modern economic and social infrastructure system.
At the Conference, delegates focused on exchanging important information on socio-economic development planning of localities to 2030, with a vision to 2050.
Localities in the Central Coast region introduced projects calling for investment along with specific investment attraction policies, while businesses from Ho Chi Minh City and provinces in the region also shared their opinions and wishes related to investment and market development in the region.
Also at the Conference, Ho Chi Minh City leaders called on businesses and industry associations in the city to explore and connect opportunities for cooperation and investment in market development in the provinces of the Central Coast region - one of the four key regions in the country's sustainable marine economic development strategy.
As an economic locomotive, Ho Chi Minh City is always committed to providing maximum support to domestic and foreign investors, while improving the investment and business environment, reforming administrative procedures and accelerating the progress of transport and logistics infrastructure projects to promote investment cooperation projects with the Central Coast provinces quickly and effectively.
With attractive investment attraction policies shared by local leaders, Ho Chi Minh City hopes that domestic and foreign enterprises will be interested in, learn about and invest in potential projects in the Central Coastal Region. At the same time, Ho Chi Minh City leaders also called on provinces to continue to create favorable conditions, assigning focal agencies to regularly connect with enterprises to support and promote the investment process.
