Son La ranked 8th out of 65 delegations participating in the 2025 National Youth Athletics Championship

From June 19 to 24, the National Youth Athletics Championship took place in Lai Chau province. The tournament was organized by the Vietnam Sports Department, the Vietnam Athletics Federation in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lai Chau province.

Son La delegation participated in the tournament with 18 athletes competing in the following events: Javelin Throw, High Jump, Long Jump and Running. After 5 days of competition, Son La athletes won 10 medals, including 4 gold medals, 5 silver medals, 4 bronze medals. In particular, they broke the national U18 youth record in the women's relay race of 1,200m - 400m - 800m - 1,200m; broke the national record in the men's javelin throw (700gr) and women's javelin throw (500gr). With this achievement, Son La delegation ranked 8th out of 65 delegations participating in the tournament.

Son La athletes won silver medals in the women's relay race.

Athlete Luong Thi Hong Diem, Son La delegation won the gold medal in the 500gr javelin throw event, breaking the national U18 record.

Athlete Hoang The Hao, Son La delegation won gold medal in high jump.

Athlete Hoang Nhat Anh, Son La delegation won the gold medal in the men's 700gr javelin throw event, breaking the national U18 record.

The 2025 National Youth Athletics Championship brings together 65 athlete delegations from 63 provinces and cities and 2 sports training centers of the police and military sectors, with a total of 968 athletes and coaches. The athletes compete for 86 sets of medals in the following events: running, high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, race walk... in 3 age groups 2012-2013, 2010-2011 and 2008-2009.
