Son La actively produces green vegetables to serve the market at the end of the year

On the fertile Muong Sang fields, the atmosphere of bustling labor is spreading. The lush green vegetable beds stretch out to the horizon, reaching out to welcome the early morning sunshine of the highlands.

Ms. Do Thi Nguyet, Vice Chairwoman of Muong Sang Commune People's Committee, shared that the commune produces up to 120 hectares of various vegetables, concentrated in An Thai, La Nga 2, Bai Say, and Na Bo 2 villages. Solid irrigation systems and strong investment in mist and drip irrigation help farmers save labor and improve productivity and vegetable quality.

Muong Sang cooperatives and households actively participate in the VietGAP vegetable growing model, strictly following technical processes, ensuring food hygiene and safety.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quan, Director of Loc Thanh Vegetable and Fruit Cooperative, said that the unit has 20 members with more than 20 hectares of VietGAP vegetables. To meet the demand for Tet, the cooperative directs households to cooperate in planting, invest in water-saving irrigation systems and use biological pesticides to protect consumers' health.

In Na Kien village, Nguyen Huy Dong’s family is diligently taking care of a 1-hectare tomato garden. Dong shared that they have applied new technology, built a greenhouse, used drip irrigation and used biological drugs to prevent diseases. This season, the family expects to harvest 60 tons of tomatoes, with an average selling price of 25,000 VND/kg.

With the advantage of fertile land and abundant water resources, Moc Chau district currently owns more than 3,000 hectares of vegetables, distributed in the communes of Dong Sang, Muong Sang, Tan Lap, Phieng Luong. In order to meet the demand of the Tet market, the district has encouraged people to grow a variety of vegetables, such as kohlrabi, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, lettuce, etc. At the same time, it creates conditions for businesses and cooperatives to link production, consume according to the value chain, develop organic agriculture and apply high technology.

Mr. Tran Xuan Thanh, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Moc Chau district, said that the district has coordinated with localities to propagate and guide people to grasp market demand and apply science and technology in production. Greenhouses, net houses and modern irrigation systems help minimize the impact of weather, improve productivity and product quality. It is expected that during Tet, Moc Chau will supply more than 10,000 tons of green vegetables to markets in and outside the province.

Moc Chau vegetable fields are promising a bumper Tet season, bringing consumers fresh, safe products. The green color of vegetables blends with the peaceful sweetness, contributing to a full and peaceful Tet for every family.
