On the morning of July 16, the Rencontres du Vietnam Association in collaboration with the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science andEducation (ICISE, Quy Nhon Nam Ward, Gia Lai) opened the 9th Vietnam Neutrino School (VSON9).

Taking place from July 15 to 25, the program gathered more than 30 students from 8 countries, including Vietnam, Japan, Mongolia, India, England, Malaysia, Croatia and China.

VSON9 has the participation of many leading physicists in the field of neutrinos from Japan, such as: Professor Tsuyoshi Nakaya (Kyoto University, President of the Japan Society for High Energy Physics), Professor Yuichi Oyama (KEK Institute), Professor Atsumu Suzuki (Kobe University), Associate Professor - Dr. Makoto Miura (Tokyo University), Dr. Tran Van Ngoc (Kyoto University) and Associate Professor - Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Van (Institute of Physics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), Dr. Cao Van Son (ICISE Center)...

Within the framework of the program, students are provided with knowledge from basic to advanced in particle physics and neutrino physics, one of the cutting-edge fields of modern physics. The contents include: standard model of elementary particles, neutrino oscillation, neutrinoless beta decay, neutrinos from supernovae, the sun, high-energy astronomy and from nuclear reactors...

Students also have access to outstanding experiments such as Super-Kamiokande, T2K, Hyper-Kamiokande and advanced neutrino detection techniques. In particular, the program focuses on practical skills, such as simulation of neutrino interactions, analysis of real data from international detectors, and operation of cosmic ray measurement systems at the ICISE Center itself.

According to the organizers, the core goal of VSON is to create conditions for Vietnamese students and young researchers to access international science , especially in the field of neutrino physics, which is still young in Vietnam. This school has been held annually since 2017 with professional support from Japanese scientists, contributing to the formation of a solid research community, where many former students have become graduate students, doctors, and members of international research groups.

Previously, on July 14, the ICISE Center also opened the SAGI Summer School 2025 (3S25), which took place over two weeks, from July 13 to 25, attracting nearly 40 students from 5 countries. This is the third year the Summer School has been organized with the goal of providing in-depth practical training in instrument development in astrophysics.

This year’s curriculum focuses on practical topics: optics, electronics, measurement, scientific instrument control and technical programming. The teaching staff includes experts from prestigious research institutes and universities such as Caltech, NASA/JPL, CEA Saclay (France), Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Vietnam-Germany University, etc.

Not only teaching knowledge, SAGI Summer School aims at a larger goal: to form an open, practical academic environment where students practice research skills, technical design, critical thinking and teamwork...

This is an annual activity of the Astrophysics Group - SAGI, under the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research and Education (IFIRSE, under ICISE), with the support of the Simons Foundation (USA) and many Vietnamese scientists such as Dr. Nguyen Trong Hien (NASA), Professor Hoang Chi Thiem (Korea), Dr. Nguyen Luong Quang (France)...
