FIVB praises Thailand for winning the World Volleyball Championship: 'Very impressive'

The ability to block the ball helped the Thai team have a good start at the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship. The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has given many compliments to the Golden Temple team after their opening match won 3-1.

On the opening day of the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship held at Huamark Stadium (Bangkok), the Thai women's team had a victorious opening match against the representative from Africa, Egypt. The team from the land of the golden pagoda lost 1 game, but still won 3-1 (25/15, 23/25, 25/15, 25/11), thereby winning all 3 points to temporarily top Group A.

Thailand has 16 successful blocks

The FIVB website published an article analyzing and praising the Thai team after this victory. According to the International Volleyball Federation, "a solid blocker led Thailand to success in the opening match." The article emphasized that the home team had 16 successful blocks.

FIVB assessment: "Thailand, a team highly regarded for its defensive ability, continued to impress with an excellent performance at the net. They overwhelmed their opponents not only in blocking but also in attacking and serving."

On an individual level, FIVB praised the opposing center Pimpichaya Kokram, who scored the most points in the match with 19 points (17 attack points, 2 blocks). Middle blocker Thatdao Nuekjang was also mentioned as a standout player with 16 points (11 attack points, 4 blocks, 1 serve). In addition, center Chatchu-On Moksri was quoted as saying: "Today was a really great experience for the team. We were surprised by how many blocks we had. But I believe the team can play better, and will continue to improve in the next matches."

The victory in the opening match against Egypt helped Thailand gain 3 full points and top Group A after the first round. In the remaining match, the Netherlands beat Sweden 3-2. Thus, the Netherlands ranked second with 2 points, Sweden ranked third with 1 point. Egypt ranked bottom of the group with no points.

The Thai women's volleyball team will face Sweden in the second match of Group A on August 24.
