Thanh Hoa Police force directly transported food and provisions to help the people of Yen Nhan commune.
According to information from the People's Committee of Yen Nhan Commune, prolonged heavy rains due to the circulation of storm No. 5 have caused serious landslides in dozens of locations in the area. Among them, Lua village, Chieng village and Mo village are still completely isolated. In addition, the entire commune still has no electricity and no phone signal, making communication and relief work difficult.
Faced with the emergency, Thanh Hoa Police mobilized officers and soldiers to transport more than 1 ton of relief goods including bread, canned meat, sausages, dry food, drinking water... over dozens of kilometers of forest roads, wading through streams to reach isolated villages and provide timely relief to the people.
According to the Thanh Hoa Traffic Construction Maintenance and Public Passenger Transport Operation Management Board, the unit has mobilized human resources, machinery, and equipment to work overtime through the night to level and clear landslides, repair damaged areas, and ensure smooth traffic to transport relief goods to people.
With the efforts of the staff and workers, by 10:00 a.m. on August 28, the unit had cleared soil, rocks, ditch sediment, and road sediment at about 20 landslide locations with a volume of tens of thousands of cubic meters, and vehicles were able to reach the center of Yen Nhan Commune People's Committee.
However, the route from the commune center to Lua village, Chieng village and Mo village is still very difficult. The rescue team had to divide into 3 groups, moving on foot and wading through streams to transport food to the isolated area.
Essential food and provisions have been transported and delivered to the people.
Mr. Quach The Thuan, Chairman of Yen Nhan Commune People's Committee, said: The whole commune has 520 isolated households, 21 houses were damaged, many of which were severely damaged. The local government and the commune police force have organized the evacuation of 83 households from areas at risk of landslides and flash floods to safe places.
Currently, rescue and relief work in Yen Nhan commune is still being urgently deployed with the spirit of not letting people go hungry, thirsty, or lack food. Thanh Hoa Police force is closely coordinating with local authorities to continue providing supplies and supporting people to stabilize their lives after the natural disaster.
