Phu Tho: Truck carrying nearly 200 pigs infected with African swine fever arrested

On July 12, a representative of the Traffic Police Department (C08, Ministry of Public Security) said that Road Traffic Police Team No. 4 (Traffic Police Department, Phu Tho Provincial Police) had just discovered and arrested a truck carrying 190 pigs infected with disease without quarantine papers.

The incident occurred at 9:00 a.m. on July 11 at Km 27+900 of Hoa Lac – Hoa Binh road, in Ky Son ward, Phu Tho province. The task force stopped the truck with license plate 37H-014.36 driven by Mr. Pham Dinh D. (residing in Dong Thanh commune, Nghe An province), which was transporting 190 pigs in the direction of Son La – Hanoi.

During the inspection, the driver could not present an animal quarantine certificate, origin documents, transportation permit, or vaccination book. Rapid test results confirmed that all of the pigs tested positive for African swine fever virus.

The working group drew up a record, handed over people, vehicles and sick pigs to competent authorities for handling and destruction according to law.
