Investing in expanding connecting roads in Phong Phu ward

Multi-industry development advantages

Phong Phu Ward was established from the merger of Phong Thanh Commune - an advanced new rural commune with Phong Phu Ward of Phong Dien Town (old). This is a land with a complete ecosystem for socio -economic development with rice fields, crops, aquaculture areas, traditional craft villages, especially the land fund planned for Dien Loc National Seaport - a strategic advantage for trade and logistics services.

Phong Phu has an inter-regional traffic system, especially with National Highway 49B passing through, connecting with Quang Tri and coastal localities of Phong Quang ward. The Phong Dien - Dien Loc arterial road with a total investment of more than 770 billion VND has just been completed, more than 16km long, helping Phong Phu connect with economic centers of the city and neighboring provinces and cities. Phong Phu is also located near Phong Dien Industrial Park (IP) with an area of 700 hectares - one of the largest IPs of Hue City. With this advantage, when Dien Loc Seaport is completed, it will create a new "dynamic axis", supporting the transportation of goods, creating jobs for thousands of local workers and neighboring areas.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Chairman of Phong Phu Ward People's Committee shared: Currently, the locality is building 2 small-scale industrial clusters Dien Loc 1 (27.62ha) and Dien Loc 2 (20.82ha), maintaining the solar power industrial park, and calling for investment in many non-budget projects approved by Hue City. Of the 14 major projects, 5 projects have attracted investors' interest, such as: Resort combined with golf course (270ha), Phong Dien port (17.62ha), high-tech super-intensive shrimp farming area (50ha)...

“We always proactively create the best conditions in terms of procedures and land funds for businesses and investors to smoothly implement projects. When large industrial clusters, seaports and tourist areas come into operation, Phong Phu will have a leap forward in both economic scale and quality of life of the people,” said Nguyen Van Dung, Chairman of Phong Phu Ward People’s Committee.

Besides industry, the service and trade sector in Phong Phu is also making remarkable progress. Markets such as Dai Loc, Bien, Dien Huong, the commercial center in Ke Mon and the sea service areas are bustling with activities. The project to renovate Dien Loc beach tourism area with a budget of 3 billion VND will create a highlight for coastal tourism in Hue City in the coming time.

A special feature of Phong Phu is that The Chi Tay village (formerly Dien Hoa commune) has the profession of growing ornamental apricot trees. The whole ward currently has more than 100,000 apricot trees of all ages, generating an average income of about 700 million VND/year. This is not only an economic source, but also contributes to preserving the traditional cultural beauty of the land.

Focus on the quality of agricultural products

Although industry and services are growing rapidly, agriculture remains Phong Phu’s solid foundation. With more than 2,000 hectares of rice planted each year, with an average yield of 62 quintals/ha, the locality still maintains its role as the “rice granary” of the region. After land consolidation, the flat fields and upgraded canal systems have facilitated mechanization, saving labor and improving production efficiency.

Recently, Phong Phu ward residents have also boldly innovated their production and cultivation models. More than 75 hectares of ineffective rice fields have been converted to lotus cultivation, bringing higher economic value. About 300 hectares of various vegetables bring an average income of 200 million VND/ha/year. Phong Phu has two OCOP products, Hang Huong turmeric starch and Dien Mon nem tree, which continue to be maintained and widely promoted, creating a foothold in the market. The agricultural sector in Phong Phu has been developing in a safe, high-quality direction, associated with the commodity value chain. This is a pillar that goes hand in hand with industry - services - trade to help the local economy develop sustainably.

Mr. Phan Hong Anh, Secretary of Phong Phu Ward Party Committee, said: The locality is facing a major turning point to transform itself. When Dien Loc Seaport is completed and industrial - service - tourism projects come into operation, along with the connection with Phong Dien Industrial Park, the locality will become an important trade gateway in the northern region of Hue City.
