Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan: Da Nang actively calls on businesses and tourists to join in creating ecological industry and protecting the environment.

DNO - That was the suggestion of Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan, Head of the National Assembly's Supervisory Delegation on the implementation of environmental protection policies and laws since the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 took effect until now, when supervising at Khanh Son Solid Waste Treatment Complex and Hoa Khanh Industrial Park on the morning of July 25.

Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment Le Quang Huy, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Monitoring Delegation; Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Le Cong Thanh; Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong attended the monitoring session at the two above locations.

At the monitoring session, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan told the story of the brilliant fireworks displays in the sky of Da Nang and the cleanup of trash on the ground thanks to hundreds of environmental workers and volunteers actively collecting trash and cleaning up, and said that Da Nang needs an environmental "rainbow" so that people and tourists who come to watch the fireworks can clean up trash at the fireworks viewing location.

Hotels need to send messages to guests not to litter, to dispose of trash in designated areas, and to join hands in protecting the environment. Businesses must be proactive and voluntary in protecting the environment, and join hands in creating ecological industrial parks...

“Management units should not consider enterprises as management objects, but as companions in creating eco-industrial parks. At the same time, they should encourage and invite enterprises to join the state in contributing to building eco-industrial parks, and set up public information stations on environmental quality monitoring results...” - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan suggested.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong said that data on monitoring the quality of wastewater and leachate in the city has been and is being automatically and continuously transmitted to the Da Nang Intelligent Monitoring and Operation Center (IOC).

The Da Nang High-Tech Park, along with new industrial parks and the Da Nang Free Trade Zone to be developed in the near future, will be smart and ecological.

In Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 dated June 26, 2024 of the National Assembly on the organization of urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang city, the Management Board of Da Nang High-Tech Park and Industrial Parks is assigned to appraise and approve the results of appraisal of environmental impact assessment reports under the authority of the City People's Committee; grant, change, re-issue, adjust and revoke environmental licenses under the authority of the City People's Committee and localities.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong also pointed out the difficulties and obstacles in the collection, transportation and treatment of household waste, especially the procedures for implementing modern waste treatment plants and the "ecosystem" of waste classification.

The City People's Committee will have a detailed report to the monitoring delegation on the above contents as well as the implementation of the Law on Environmental Protection in 2020.
