The market is bustling
Busy lives make many people have the habit of buying pre-processed products sold online. Ms. Vu Thi Nu, Vu Thu commune, shared: I come home late from work and don't have time to cook, so I often order dishes such as spring rolls, fried sour spring rolls, braised fish, etc. on social networks for convenience. The sellers all confirm that they are homemade, the ingredients are guaranteed, and no preservatives are used. However, I am still worried because I don't know when these dishes were prepared, and whether the ingredients and processes ensure food hygiene and safety.
Trusting the seller and buying from a familiar place when seeing the advertisement “homemade”, many people have chosen to buy food online. Having a small child at home, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Anh, Quynh Phu commune, often orders some types of cakes and fast food such as buns, fried sour rolls, sausages, etc. However, when receiving the product, it was packaged carelessly, without labels, no expiration date, no inspection stamp, which made Ms. Phuong Anh wonder about the quality.
In the digital age, the strong development of social networks and e-commerce platforms has helped trading activities become more vibrant, so "homemade" food has also become popular. When browsing Facebook, Zalo pages... it is not difficult to come across dishes being sold with attractive advertisements. To increase income, many people choose to buy ingredients to process themselves and then sell online. Some people choose ingredients with clear origins, comply with hygiene and safety procedures, but many people, for profit, disregard them, blur advertising, and label "homemade" to gain customers' trust. Some people only sell small-scale, do not clearly state their addresses, making inspection and supervision difficult, leading to the risk of food safety.
Potential risk of food insecurity
Fast, neat, convenient, no time spent on processing, traveling, just a few steps to order and receive the goods at home, that is the advantage that makes food sold online chosen by many people. However, that is the potential risk of food safety due to difficulty in control and lack of supervision. This gap is creating loopholes for the frequent purchase and sale of unsafe food. In addition, the label "homemade" easily hits the psychology of consumers. They buy goods mostly with "trust", but when they are unfortunately poisoned by food, at least digestive disorders, more seriously affecting their health, then they realize that their trust has been misplaced, losing money and getting sick.
Mr. Do Manh Hung, Head of the Food Safety and Hygiene Department (Hung Yen Department of Health ) said: Food sold online has many potential risks of food safety. Therefore, we recommend that consumers should not buy products of unknown origin, address, origin, and have not been inspected; instead, they should choose to buy at reputable establishments that have been licensed and certified to meet food safety conditions.
Nowadays, the weather is hot and erratic, so food spoils easily. Therefore, food producers, processors and traders need to strictly comply with regulations from the stage of importing goods, selecting raw materials, processing, preserving to transporting. This is not only a responsibility to consumers but also a way to protect the health of themselves and their families.
