One example is the project to digitize the portraits of more than 3,000 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. From the emotional paper sketches of artist Dang Ai Viet, young people in Ho Chi Minh City created the website "Portraits of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers".
This is not only a traditional educational activity but also a testament to the continuation of the peace story of today's young generation.
Sharing at the website launch last April, artist Dang Ai Viet expressed: "I would like to thank your generation for "sharing the fire" with me, so that this work can continue, especially to spread forever. I always think that if I keep it on paper like this, I'm afraid it won't be possible, so when I meet young people using digital technology to save it for future generations, I burst into joy."
The Southern Women's Museum is one of the first units in Ho Chi Minh City to apply modern technology to exhibition and education.
In 2020, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of People's Armed Forces Hero Nguyen Thi Dinh (March 15, 1920 - March 15, 2020), the Museum introduced a 3D projection system combined with holograms to recreate images of female heroes such as Nguyen Thi Dinh, Vo Thi Sau...
According to Ms. Pham Thi Dieu, Deputy Director in charge of the Southern Women's Museum: "Applying virtual reality technology is like an "extended arm" for the museum in introducing and educating history.
Viewers can observe the details of the artifacts from every angle, feel the space and historical context, instead of just looking through the glass case. With wider access thanks to 3600 virtual tours and the application of virtual reality and augmented reality technology, the public, even in remote areas, still has the opportunity to access the museum and heritage.
Artist Dang Ai Viet shares with young people about his journey traveling across the country to paint portraits of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.
In particular, this form also evokes emotions and inspires participants. When history is recreated through animation, sound and interaction, knowledge is no longer dry but becomes a memorable experience."
Many schools today are also innovating the content and form of traditional education for students. Instead of just sitting and listening to teachers, students can visit historical sites, meet historical witnesses, etc.
At Hung Vuong High School (Cho Lon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), every year, the school organizes the Hung King's death anniversary in a very unique way. There, the ceremony takes place solemnly while an elderly teacher in the school reads the eulogy to the Hung King before the altar of the National Ancestor.
The whole school performed the incense and flower offering ceremony together. The performances were choreographed by the students themselves with songs about love for the homeland and gratitude. Right on the schoolyard, the students were able to "touch" history and become aware of their responsibility in the historical flow of the nation.
Students observe artifacts through a 3D hologram image reproduction system at the Southern Women's Museum.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Diep Lai, a History teacher at Nguyen An Ninh High School (HCMC), virtual reality and augmented reality technology are truly great applications for delivering history lessons.
However, only a few schools in Ho Chi Minh City have initially equipped themselves with this technology using their own funds. Ms. Diep Lai hopes that in the near future, this method will be widely deployed in the general education system.
Not only in class, the topic of love for the homeland and the responsibility of young people in continuing the story of peace is also included in many exams.
Typically, the Literature exam in the 2025 High School Graduation Exam evoked the image "The sky of any homeland is the sky of the Fatherland". This is a reminder to the young generation that in the new context, each individual needs to broaden their vision, take practical actions, and demonstrate their responsibility to their homeland and country.
Students "move" around the Southern Women's Museum through the 3D/360° virtual tour application
Or the contest "Writing calligraphy in Vietnamese of quotes, paragraphs, and words of Uncle Ho about the South" held at the end of April attracted many women's union members, youth union members, students and many individuals who love the art of calligraphy in Thu Duc city (old), Ho Chi Minh City.
The flying strokes not only show ingenuity, but also convey a message of love for the homeland and respect for President Ho Chi Minh .
Traditional education for the younger generation requires the cooperation of family, school and community. More innovation is needed in educational methods so that traditional education does not become rigid but becomes closer through experience, art and technology.
