On the afternoon of July 1, Philippine Airlines officially opened a direct flight connecting Manila (Philippines) with Da Nang City.
The first flight PR585 carrying 193 passengers landed at Da Nang International Airport at 12:45, marking a new milestone in air connectivity between two important destinations in Southeast Asia.
According to the plan, this route will be operated by Philippine Airlines with a frequency of 3 flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. From November 2025, the airline plans to increase the frequency to 4 flights/week to meet the growing demand for travel and tourism . Flights will be operated by Airbus A321 aircraft with 199 seats, including 12 business class seats.
As soon as the plane landed, a water cannon salute was performed in an excited atmosphere.
At the International Arrivals Terminal, a solemn welcome program took place with the participation of leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, representatives of the Central Aviation Authority, Da Nang International Airport Border Police, Da Nang International Airport, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company, representatives of Philippine Airlines...
The ribbon cutting ceremony, the presentation of flowers and souvenirs to passengers, and the commemorative photo taking created a special mark for the event. At the International Departure Terminal, Philippine Airlines, in coordination with Vietnam Airport Ground Services Joint Stock Company, continued to hold a farewell ceremony and present gifts to passengers on flight PR586 from Da Nang departing at 13:35 to Manila.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, Nguyen Thi Hoai An, the opening of Philippine Airlines flights to Da Nang took place at the same time as the new city officially came into operation with an expanded geographical space and ecosystem of tourism products and services.
“We will continue to diversify our customer markets, especially those near Southeast Asia, through promotional programs, advertising, and attracting more airlines to open new routes,” said Ms. An.
Ms. An said that with this new route, the total number of flights from Manila to Da Nang has increased to 12 flights/week, creating great convenience in the exchange of tourists and trade between the two cities.
On the airline’s side, Mr. Richard Nuttall - President of Philippine Airlines shared: “We are proud to launch the route connecting Da Nang and Manila. This is not only a tourism bridge but also opens up opportunities for passengers from Central Vietnam to experience a convenient flight network to famous destinations in the Philippines, the US, Canada, Australia and Japan.”
According to statistics from the General Statistics Office, in 2024, Da Nang welcomed more than 65,000 Filipino visitors. In the first 5 months of 2025 alone, the number of Filipino visitors to the city reached over 49,000, an increase of 2.26 times over the same period last year.
The exploitation of new flight routes is expected to continue to promote the number of exchange visitors, contributing to the development of tourism economy of Da Nang in particular and Vietnam in general.
