Promoting the core and pioneering role of the Culture - Sports sector in building a civilized, modern and affectionate city

Attending and giving a speech at the Congress, Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and positive contributions of all cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees, and workers of the City's culture and sports sector during the past term.

The Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee affirmed that in the context of the whole City striving to compete to achieve achievements to welcome the Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 12th Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress and the 14th National Party Congress, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports has demonstrated its pioneering role, proactively implementing many meaningful programs and activities, creating a strong impression and spreading widely in the community.

The past term was a special period with many challenges, especially the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the City's Department of Culture and Sports has made great efforts, applying special mechanisms and forms of activities to maintain and promote activities. Outstanding cultural and sports events successfully organized in the first six months of 2025 not only contributed to improving the spiritual life of the people, but also affirmed the position and leading role of the City in the field of culture and sports.

In particular, the role of the standing agency of the Organizing Committee for major national holidays at the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification was highly appreciated by leaders at all levels and people.

On behalf of the City's leaders, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy praised the spirit of solidarity, dedication and responsibility of the Party Committee of the Department of Culture and Sports, and believed that with the correct and drastic leadership of the Party Committee of the Department, the consensus and creativity of all cadres and party members, the City's Culture and Sports sector will continue to promote its glorious tradition and successfully carry out the goals and tasks set forth in the Resolution of the 4th Congress.

In the coming term, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee suggested that the Department's Party Committee should continue to closely follow the direction of the City Party Committee and the City People's Committee, promote the core role in building and spreading cultural values, improving the spiritual life of the people; promote digital transformation, improve the efficiency of management and organization of cultural and sports activities in a modern, professional, internationally integrated direction, contributing to building Ho Chi Minh City into a civilized, modern, and humane city.

According to the political report of the 4th Congress of the Party Committee of the Department of Culture and Sports, term 2025 - 2030, Along with the development of the City, the cause of building and developing culture and sports has had many positive changes, achieving important results. The cultural life of the people is increasingly rich, many good traditional cultural values of the nation are preserved and promoted.

Regarding the development goals for the period 2025 - 2030, the Party Committee of the Department of Culture and Sports determined to build Ho Chi Minh City into a center of culture, art, scientific research and training of human resources for culture, art and family work of the country and the region, with a market of fine arts, theater - cinema and performing arts developing strongly in the region and Asia.

Invest in developing high-performance sports, especially the City's strengths. Improve sports achievements, build the City into a major national sports center, ensuring sufficient conditions to organize regional and world sports events and activities. Build a major national sports human resource training center; increase investment in systems to ensure service for science, technology and sports medicine.

Focus on selecting and searching for sports talents to invest in with focus and key points. Build a system for training and assessing athletes; invest in modern facilities and specialized equipment. Build training and competition facilities that meet international standards.

Effectively organize propaganda activities directed by the City. Continue to closely coordinate with departments, branches, localities, and press agencies of the City and Central Government located in the City to proactively and promptly provide information and communication to the people of the City and the whole country.

Improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party organization, build a team of vanguard and exemplary Party members with political mettle, revolutionary ethics, and working capacity to meet the requirements of tasks in the new era, the era of national development.

Promoting the role of Press and Media in building a civilized and modern Ho Chi Minh City after the apparatus restructuring

The discussion emphasized that the Ho Chi Minh City press is in a strong innovation flow, carrying the noble mission of serving the interests of the nation, the people and the happiness of the people. In the context of streamlining the administrative apparatus towards efficiency and effectiveness, the press is identified as an important factor, which needs to be proactive and creative in performing the role of orienting public opinion, spreading positive information and fighting against bad and toxic information.

At the same time, it is proposed to create mechanisms and legal corridors so that journalists have a rich "playground" and "performance space", strengthen inspection, examination and rectification of violations to protect a healthy and legal working environment.
