On July 14, Mr. Dang Dinh Toan - Vice Chairman of Kon Plong Commune People's Committee (Quang Ngai Province) - said that the locality has just surveyed two beautiful pristine waterfalls in the middle of the natural forest, with potential for tourism development.
The first waterfall is located in Kon Plong village (Kon Plong commune), called by locals as So Roach waterfall, about 2km from Truong Son Dong road and the nearest inhabited village. The waterfall is about 5-6m high, below is a large lake, rocks covered with green moss, a unique natural landscape.
The second waterfall, locally known as Ho Kook waterfall, is located in the Thach Nham protective forest (Kon Plong commune). The waterfall is about 2.5km from Truong Son Dong road. The access is more difficult than So Roach waterfall due to steep, slippery terrain and many forest leeches.
Ho Kook Waterfall is about 10m high, surrounded by a cool primeval forest, at the foot of the waterfall is a lake about 2m deep, followed by a small waterfall about 2-3m high. The landscape here still retains its wild beauty, almost untouched by humans.
According to Mr. Toan, local people have known about these two waterfalls for many years. After receiving information from the people about the tourism potential, the commune organized a team to survey the waterfalls.
"Through the survey, the delegation found that both waterfalls have potential for tourism development. The commune is planning to continue surveying other locations and waterfalls in the area. The geographical location and climate of Kon Plong commune are similar to Mang Den, so the orientation is definitely tourism development.
However, after surveying all locations, the commune held a meeting to evaluate, research and have specific development directions due to many procedures and legal issues involved," said Mr. Toan.

So Roach and Ho Kook waterfalls are currently located about 30km from the center of Mang Den National Ecotourism Area. If properly invested, this place can become an attractive destination for tourists who love nature and exploration .
According to the general planning for the construction of Mang Den Tourist Area until 2045, which was approved by the People's Council of Kon Tum province (formerly), now Quang Ngai province, with an area of over 90,000 hectares, the two newly discovered waterfalls are located in the tourist area, creating a new landscape for Mang Den National Tourist Area.
With the orientation of developing the Quang Ngai - Kon Tum expressway; planning Mang Den airport; expanding National Highway 24... Mang Den National Eco-tourism Area is located in the center of the new Quang Ngai province. Combined with Ly Son, the new Quang Ngai province hopes that the "wings" of Mang Den - Ly Son will help Quang Ngai tourism take off quickly.
