Launching program to support 65 years of Vietnam-Cuba friendship

The program will take place over 65 days (August 13 - October 16, 2025) to mobilize resources (at least 65 billion VND) to support the Cuban people to overcome difficulties and foster the special friendship between the two peoples.

Currently, the Cuban people - especially children, the elderly and vulnerable groups - are facing many difficulties due to the prolonged impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, natural disasters and the embargo policy.

The program aims to mobilize resources to support the Cuban people in terms of medical supplies, necessities and sustainable development cooperation areas, contributing to helping the Cuban people overcome difficulties caused by the pandemic, natural disasters and blockade and embargo policies.

The program is a meaningful humanitarian activity, demonstrating the loyalty, attachment and international solidarity of the Vietnamese people for the Cuban people. This is also an opportunity to express gratitude for the noble acts that Cuba has given to Vietnam during difficult years.

On December 2, 1960, Cuba was the first country in the Western Hemisphere to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. Over the past 65 years, the two countries have stood side by side in the struggle for national independence and freedom, and in the cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland in each country.

The traditional solidarity, special friendship, comprehensive cooperation and special trust between the Party, State and People of Vietnam and Cuba have been constantly nurtured and comprehensively developed, becoming a great source of encouragement, valuable support and effective service to the revolutionary cause in each country.

The Vietnam-Cuba Joint Statement of September 2024 agreed to define 2025 as the “Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year,” affirming the determination to bring the special relationship between the two countries to a new height, developing more comprehensively, substantially, effectively and sustainably; reaffirming Vietnam's solidarity and steadfast support for efforts to overcome the difficulties and challenges that Cuba is experiencing.

Over the past 65 years, the Vietnam-Cuba relationship has always been an exemplary symbol of international solidarity, loyalty and steadfastness. From the immortal words of Leader Fidel Castro “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its own blood” to concrete acts of sharing in peacetime, the two countries have always stood shoulder to shoulder for a common goal.

During the 65 days of the Program, organizations, individuals, people and organizations can participate by supporting funds in many forms: Donating among cadres, members, union members, workers at agencies, organizations, schools and communities; mobilizing support from domestic and foreign businesses and organizations; receiving contributions through many direct and online channels at the Central Association office, scanning QR codes for transfers, donation boxes in public places, mobile applications (Charity App, Viettel Money), and the website of the Vietnam Red Cross Society.

In addition, creative emulation movements in schools will also be organized such as: Writing letters, donating "small plans" to support Cuban children...

All contributions will be received, transparently managed by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and delivered to the Cuban people in 2025./.
