According to Nguyen Van Tuyen, Secretary of the Yen Thuong Commune Party Committee, the locality currently has more than 500 hectares of agricultural land. In recent times, the commune has promoted the restructuring of crops and the application of mechanization in agricultural production, including the model of growing potatoes to supply Orion Vina Food Company Limited. Currently, the model is promoting positive effects, creating jobs and contributing to improving the lives of many rural workers.

Sharing at the ceremony, General Director of Production Division of Orion Vina Food Co., Ltd. Yang Jin Han was happy to support farmers with mechanical machinery to increase the value of potato production. The use of modern equipment will help bring long-term benefits to farmers. At the same time, Orion Vina will also have a source of quality raw materials to produce the safest and best products to serve the people.
Mr. Yang Jin Han added that Orion Vina's demand for raw potatoes is up to 50,000 tons per year and there is currently a shortage of local supply. Therefore, the company hopes that the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Yen Thuong Commune (Gia Lam District) as well as other localities will continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for the company to expand the area of potato cultivation, ensuring the supply of raw materials.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Manh Phuong said that although it is the capital, the agricultural area of the city is still very large. In recent times, Hanoi has focused on transforming the crop structure associated with developing linkage chains to increase economic value and improve farmers' income.
Highly appreciating the potato growing linkage model of the Institute of Agricultural Biology, Orion Vina Food Company Limited and Yen Thuong Commune, Mr. Nguyen Manh Phuong said that this is a sustainable direction for agricultural development, and at the same time shows the practical effectiveness of the linkage of 5 houses in developing agricultural production.
In the coming time, Mr. Nguyen Manh Phuong suggested that the Institute of Agricultural Biology and Orion Vina continue to coordinate with units under the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and localities in the city to promote production linkage activities, and at the same time, have more mechanisms and policies to support equipment and mechanized machinery to expand the area and further improve the quality of potatoes.
The potato model in Yen Thuong commune has the participation of the Institute of Agricultural Biology in the development association. Director of the Institute of Agricultural Biology Nguyen Xuan Truong said that every year the Institute provides seed sources to units across the country to develop the potato production association model. The form of potato rotation production has been contributing to bringing better economic value to farmers. For potatoes, when mechanization is effectively applied, labor will be reduced; 1 sao takes 10 - 12 working days, but with mechanized machinery, it only takes 1 working day.
